Here's a pic of the car in December of 1988. I was only 6 when we first got it.

Ok, last one I promise :p . The tint you see in both tahoe pics is still on the car and has yet to even bubble :D . You can also see the horrible pinstripe that I had to remove when I got the car.

Just about the same with a few nicks and scratches here and there. The only difference is no pinstripes, some fog lights, and cleared bumper lights.

i dunno man, i kinda liked the pinstriping! but its cool that you grew up with your car. it gives you a certain respect for it that you cant get if you just bu one off the lot

Yea, its probably the reason why I'm so attatched to this car. Otherwise, I'd sell it off and go buy an AE86 :)

That's really awesome that you took pics of the car when it was still new. Nah, I love the pinstrips it adds a bit of class that todays cars don't have. :D ;)

i wasnt as lucky...i had my old Isuzu Trooper handed down to me....4 banger carbed.....and 5-speed....lol....i learned how to drive stick on that truck, and the clutch held up all that abuse...what a blast it was to drive in the snow in 4WD...unfortunatley....i was hit last summer coming from my friends house...girl decided to make a left at a no left turn right...and she tried to beat me...her front got fucked up big time, while my truck sustained a busted grill, the driverside fender was pushed up underneath, the radiator busted..not to mention the tire blew out on the wheel...she was kinda drivable..but she was written off....and then i got the accord...i didnt get the chance to take her around in the winter b/c the only time it snowed was when my tranny was busted...so i couldnt take it out....

Dude, that's awsome! Getting to grow up with your 3g, then to own it. I think I'm gonna cry :o hehe. I was also 6 years old in '88, and in 1988 we retired our old 1978 Pontiac station wagon and leased a brand new black 1989 Nissan pickup truck -- crew cab, V6, and a 5 speed (that was one damn good little truck...111k in those 4 years and not a single prob)

I wish I had some pics of my 3g when it was new. The original owner probably does somewhere. He was totally anal about his little Honda (I mean the way he maintained it, you could tell he reallly cared about the car). All I have is the window sticker and all the maintence records, including its first oil change at 1800 miles, heh.

Can't see real good, but it looks like it's even got the same license plate that you got now.

:D

Ok, you got me. What the heck is a AE86?

Nice story btw, I think it's great how your car stayed in the family.

That's great. The good thing about having a car handed down to you is the fact that you know what all has happened to it and how well it was maintained. It is very difficult buying used cars, especially ones that are as old as ours and knowing it's history. I have a different perspective then all of you on the 3G Accord. I was 31 in 1988, and was driving a new 88 Lude at the time. I bought my first 3G Accord brand new back in 1986. It was a grey 86 LXi hatchback with louvers. :D She was cut down in her prime 8 months later when she was rear-end at 55 MPH.

the ae86 is the chasis code for the 85-87 toyota corolla GT-S. the 85s are commonly refered to as the Hachi-Go(japanese for 85), and the 86s are commonly refered to as the hachiroku(japanese for 86). there is a pic of one in my avatar. they kind of look like the 3g hatch.

I want to grow up with my accord but i dont know what to do to it to make it look good so i will want to keep it. right now it needs brand new half shafts thanks to my brother, a new hood, paint job and transmission fluid might be nice too. any ideas?
