idle is sloppy

Sometimes when idling.. it'll do a constant 800-1600 idle jump... it'll pulsate for 5 minutes or so. Usually when warm. What cuases this?

I also had some vacuum lines capped off on my distributor and I plugged them back in. WHat do they do?

if your idle is going up and down, you should look into replacing fast idle valve. It is located on throttle body next to throttle position sensor.
Plug the vacuum lines back to the distributor. I would check the vacuum diaphram to make sure it holds the vacuum. it is very important for it to hold the vacuum.
