I just rolled over to 327,000 in the 89 DX. Still runs and drives good. Starting to get some squeaks from the rear suspension. I suppose they just don't make um like they used to, right!!!

275,000 for me. Just swapped the Weber on my car too. Lost a little power, and leaks a bit of oil. But runs smooth and fires up every time. Gas mileage is still the same as stock too.

198k runnin good leaks a tiny bit of oil think it's just the oilpan gasket but nothing too huge had the valve cover gasket changed. just hopin it's not main seals but i hear the main seals in the a20 is almost indestructable.

No, the rear main seal is destructable. Here is some evidence. Thanks to max.

180km, about 112miles, not alot, but i think this car has been sitting in driveways most of its life. if it showed us how many hours the engine has been running, well then it would probably be a different story

302,000 86 LX, interior almost like new, exterior paint is good, clearcoat is completely intact. Had a few oil leaks that I am currently done with repairing, installed weber and just put on head gasket replacing one that apparently blew between 3&4 for no reason, it ran real strong up until then. Have not cranked it up yet due to no spare time, just have a few loose ends literally, plugging up holes where things no longer exist and carb linkage fab. These cars are very fun to drive and good on gas, not real fast but feels like a V6 fwd car but a lot lighter. One of the few cars I have not minded putting a little money into knowing it probably is not worth it in regards to market value.
Most oil leaks I have found to be hardened rubber o-ring type things, oil filter base, oil breather box to block, oil pump seals, dist seals. Nothing out of ordinary for a 20 year old car.
True is the statement about hours put on the engine, That counts for a lot of engine wear. Idling in traffic etc.

Guys, we're getting miles out of these cars that make my Mercedes friends envious!! I put around 1650 miles per week on mine. The bottom end is still original although I did do a head job and replaced all the seals at 290,000. However, it did not leak any oil before and it doesn't now. My Mercedes, on the other hand, leaves it's mark wherever you park it. And it was reworked at 232,000 miles. So, from my experience, Honda kicks Mercedes ass for workmanship, engineering and reliability.

371,842.2 miles on my '89 LX-i, original motor, original tranny, 2nd clutch. Still runs and drives like an absolute dream, everything works, cold a/c, etc. I got it in 2001 with 253k on it from my mom, and she got it in May 1997 with 140k from the original owner. I've got a very very minor oil leak, I think coming from the breather tube. Only have to add about 1/2-1 quart over 5000 miles so it's not too bad. Unfortunately the body is really showing it's age... 13 salty Chicago winters are really taking their toll on the rear fenders and other spots, and the clearcoat is peeling pretty good on the roof :( Still runs great though and still perfectly reliable!

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y15/thirdgenlxi/carpic13vv.jpg

My dads SE-i auto is at 170,xxx miles and doing great, though the motor was rebuilt around 135k or somewhere around there (before he bought it). Might as well add my moms 5th gen in here too ('94 EX sedan 5 speed), she's around 209,xxx and going strong as ever! My bike has 'only' 58,700 miles, LOL, but it's a 2004 and not even 2 years old yet (1 yr 9 mos)

Gotta love Hondas!!

My lxi has a bit over 116k miles and my 91 4geez had over 230k miles when i sold it. I use to see the kid who bought the car (i sold my car to a guy who buys cars fixes them then sells them) driving it every once in a while so im assuming its got over 240k miles. Funny how most people say "i dont want to put to many miles in my car" but we honda people (at least me lol) say "i cant wait to put more miles into my car".

186K with ALOT of work in it, nothing deep into the engine though

Went over on my last oil change, went 4500 miles, was down maybe a quarter quart, the oil starts at the top of the top hole in the dipstick, and after 4500 miles, it was down just to the bottom of the top hole in the dipstick. Not too shabby.

Just wish this car had some freakin balls though..... lol.

Really makes my other three feel like race cars after driving the blue wonder all week back and forth to work. Oh yeah, one of them really IS a race vehicle LOL But anything I drive feels fast compared to the old accord lol. :)

Just passed 238k mark during a trip out of state. Car runs strong. Got 36.5 mpg crusing interstate. I do have some minor oil leak dripping from the front crank seal (but the seal was changed 50k miles ago). Paint is MAACO stuff and really look bad, faded and dull (done 5 years ago). A/C has been converted to R134a and blows 38F after 10 mins when outside is 80F. Performance-wise pretty much everything is original, no mod except using Autolite double-plat and NGK wires set and timing advanced 2-3 degrees.

170K miles and using no oil. My car sat for 9 years on a ranch so stuff like suspension especially struts, engine mounts, rubber lines, etc are suspect. I'm replacing the sticky stuff now, but amazingly the carburetor has operated perfectly for 55K miles after sitting with old fuel for 7 of the 9 years. Engine and drive train are great!

Man 2.5 years later and I really haven't added too many miles on the trusty LX-i... only about 19,000 or so. I'm at 390,500 something, still running strong as ever!! But I don't drive it much since I take the bike everywhere

got mine about a year ago. with 250K miles on it. (a guess. speedo didnt work for about 2 years) put about 7 thousand miles on it with about 90 percent of the shifts at 6 grand to see if it could take it and it did for a while till it broke a rod, jumped time and blew a hole in the radiator. It will be back soon.

my 88 accord A20a4 is just over 235,000km i think that's about 146,022 miles says a internet converter, as of 01/20/09.

mid 2008, i had the timing done as well as reconditioned the autobox and p/s overhaul, apart from yearly service, a brake fix. (booster i think, i was braking heavy that year) thats it.

the engine runs great still, but the box was scary early 2008, i lost the auto's 4th gear, it would work fine till it came time to auto change into 4th .. then just go neutral, if i edged on the accl' it would slowing slip into 4th but i second i put a little pressure on the box it would slip into neutal again, so i stopped driving it for 4 months till i saved the money for the big fix.

once the p/s, timing and recond' autobox was done ... wooah boy how'dy ... like a new car.

in the first 5 years i was young and pushed my little 88 accord pretty hard, only time i drive it hard in the last few years was once last year, was a few weeks after the "big fix", it was 3am no one around on a flat highway, where took her up to top speed. 165kmh maybe 170kmh if i pushed, that's about 102 miles a hour i think, all standard, she never stopped purrring perfectly and nailed to the road with 15" rims, stability not a issue at all, even with 2 lane changes.
