jumping back into 3geez scene

sup guys, i need to get myself a beater car and i've been quite fond of 3geez, since my first car was an 88 lxi. Since my current daily driver (02 Trans am ws6) is currently going under the knife for a forged shortblock and an ati procharger, i need a dependable car. been searching craigslist and i found this car. What are some problematic area that thirdgen are notorius for. All i remember when i had my thirdgen is that the tranny was blown twice, leaky valve cover gasket, and the damn sunroof was leaking. any other mechanical area i should be checking.

the car looks like it was cheaply re-painted ,all i can say is check everythig out before and after you test drive it

i dont think so, the outers are, but the inner peice that holds the LP dips down on the sedan, on the coupe it stays flush with the bottom of the lights

Wut u talking about Geddy? the coupe and sedans have diferent lights...its a 88 since the you can tell about the bumper...well...i live in the bay area and i picked my LX-i up cheap. just keep checking....looks that you are paying for the cheap ass paint job and rims... plus you want a LX-i or a SE-i since they are fuel injected and dont have lots of problems when you are trying to pass smog.

i find anything over $2,500 for a stock 3gee is stupid, usually over $1,000 is stupid but for one with a very perfect body then $2,500 is a good price

:) no problem.. keep an eye out there are some real nice 3geez sometimes on craigslist. if you're not in a hurry to buy you could get a good deal too. I know it's just your beater car but still they all go for around the same price so might as well get the best one possible. :)

yeah they are.. couples have black plastic below the tail lights that sedans don't have. thats actually one reason i dont like the coupes.. the tails look weird to me. plus i hate cars with fold down seats lol

i just came from safeway and i saw a sedan with a flat tire...i helped the guy and then i checked out the car....you wont believe it but it had OEM foglights...i asked him about it and he just answered like i was stupid....i was like well take care man. and i showed off while i pulled out from the parking

I don't like the plastic under the outer lights!
also since the Coupe tails are SOOOOOO much harder to find in good shape
vs the 88-89 Sedan lights that are still Manufactured

i would like a coupe or hatch cause they're lighter.. but i think the sedans look the best and are more pleasant for passengers (if i ever had any.. i dunno if ive even had someone in the passenger seat lol)

Most likely i'll probably get the one that is 950 bucks and I like the sedan better. Besides the paint, i'll gonna set up that car exactly how i did with my old 3geez.

I really don't mind if it's an auto. My other car is a 6 speed, which i'm getting a little tired shifting gears in traffic.

yeah i guess if it's a commute car and you'll be in traffic theres no need for stick.. ive just always had manuals so automatics bug me to the point i would never buy one. most people dont seem to mind them though
