View Full Version : what the heck is the thing next to the motor mount?

what the heck is the thing next to the motor mount,the front one. the dealer calls it a snubber,it just sits all by itself on the front cross member. nothing around it even comes close to it. does it absorb vibration or something/ or is it something used on the automatic cars?

it's a vibration damper. a friend took it out of his car and noticed no difference. of course, he had a poly dogbone mount and had a hellish vibration to begin with. but yeah, it's just a vibration damper.

i don't know but i have one too and i have a 5spd nevermind....

Maybe it works like those heavy counter weight like earthquake dampers on the tops of high buildings that kind of osscilate to cut back on motion.
