I just dont have the time to have the car down for as long as a B series V-Tec graft in would require (probably months of trial and error)

I've tracked down a totaled 89 LXi with 166K miles, Almost identical car as mine, just havent gone to really look it over yet and see what is in it. Says car ran great until their son, 18, took it for his school car, and shortly after rear ended a pickup. Car still runs supposedly, didnt get into the engine, just punctured the radiator and smashed up the front end pretty good. So, mechanically, good donor car....

Will the LXi and LX engines swap out basically as a plug and play setup? I know I will need to yank the black box from the donor car, and some engine controller someone mentioned that mounts under one of the front seats, but will all the motor mounts be the same? Trans mounts? Temp sensors and oil pressure sensors and all that good sheeot?

If this is a pretty straighforward swap out, I want to go haul his wrecked-ass 3gee over here, yank the engine, tear it down and freshen it up, and maybe do a few simple mods that are cheap and wont knock off any mileage, just free up some caged ponies.

I just want to finish making this car a super cheap daily that's fuel injected and easier to drive and clean as they come.

efi conversion is a big project. i'm sure you could handle it, but it may also be easier to just swap the front ends and repair the lx-i, depending on how bad the damage is.

Well, took the drive out today to look at the car. Engine is clean as hell, interior is beat pretty bad, rest of the car is half ass ok other than the front end. The radiator is pushed back against the exhaust manifold, looks like it took a good hit in the front, but the engine starts right up and sounds good. I think I'd still want to tear it down while it was out, throw in a new set of rings and mains, have the head rebuilt, and throw in a new gasket/seal kit, and have it ready to go another 200K without even thinking twice. Looks like all accessories and mounts and such are identical to my car too, mucho bueno, means I get to keep my A/C compressor and alternator and belts and such which are all new or updated already.

Told her I wanted the car and would let her know when I can arrange to rent a U-haul dolly and bring my truck out to tow it back. I have one, possibly two more cars to peek at before I actually pick up the car though, but this one looks like it might be the one.....

i was thinking this same thing http://www.jspecautosports.com/catalog_product.aspx?prod_id=332 get that right there, build it up on my engine stand in my garage and then once it's all done drop it in my accord, if it goes in and just needs dash wiring and engine bay wiring that'd be alright and probly easier than the straight up efi to carb swap right?

why don't you just go down to the jy and get one instead if you're going to be building it? our cars are all over the junkyards nowadays and the engines can be had for a third or even a fourth of what that one will cost you. if you're going to be building it up anyway, chances are you're going to replace key components with stronger/more hi-perf parts.

that's a good idea, i'll probly do that, but will it pretty much just plug n play w/ the exception of dash and engine bay wiring?

unless you remove some stuff, i believe the wiring was the same for all the injected models no matter the year. if you're going to get your cam reground, headers, intake mani, etc., then you shouldn't really have a problem seeing the heads are all the same (except the cams, but you're regrinding that anyway) and so are the blocks. so it shouldn't be any different than any other swap.
