View Full Version : broken dizzy vacum advance

ok well im out working on the car and i figure "hey i should plug the number 25 vacum line to see if it takes care of my pinging", i pull up on the hose like an idiot and snap, the hole thing comes up with it, right from the base. can this be ran like this??? i have to have my car ready to drive across the US in 10 days or less, and i still have to get it aligned, timeing belt,vacum choke pull off (hasnt botherd driveing to much), and try to get my exaust pipe to stop rattleing up agaisnt my gas tank, thanks for any info on the dizzy

yes thats exactly it, its snaped around the base but theres a mettel rod goinging into the main part of the dizzy still

mine is broke just like that and my car is still running just not running great

well i gotta have this car be able to get me from florida to either maine, or idaho in about 10 days, um but its fine to run as is for the time being. ok does anyone know how much sometihng like this costs? how easy to replace?

go to advance auto and they will get you one. i can't remember but i tyink they are $40-60

The diaphragms appear to be independant. So vaccum in #2 will still hold.

As for #25 being connected... #25 is cold advance and should only come on when the motor is cold, as long as it is routed through the appropriate thermovalve.

so what exactly does it do is it really needed to pass smog and will it make the car run like crap

well the reason i was plugging number 25 was becuse i was told it would help limit pinging when the car is warm, a very bad problem my car has, looks like i made the problem worse
