I have been trying to figure out this leak in my Power Steering forever and i just discovered its right in front of me, the high pressure power steering hose that is right in front of the engine block has a slow leak through the rubber material of the hose i was wondering short of replacing the hose is there any way to stop the leak, (epoxy or something?) thanks alot all

The hose will need to be replaced. There's not much you can do to stop a 1200 psi leak in a flexible line.

most shops that make hydraulic hose lines can use the factory hard pieces and crimp new hose on to it. or some places like nappa can make entire new hoses for you.

well it appears to be fixed, i just put some jbweld quick on the hose and appears to not be leaking anymore for about the past week, damn i love that stuff!

dont mean to bump a old ass thread, but 1200 psi?!?!?!??! is that right? i have to swap mine but cause those hard lines don't like me i was thinking of just hose clamping a flex hose onto the hard line, i obviously wont if it really is 1200psi

Yep It is, Read This Quote From The OEM Honda Service Manual About Testing The High Pressure Side of a P/S Pump: http://i32.tinypic.com/11r7kpk.jpg
So You can't just clamp a high pressure line like that, Best to find another line that isn't split, Also the Risk of the hose Squirting P/S Fluid all over your motor and exhaust and catching fire isn't worth taking a risk over :D

Sure is. 1200PSI is typical for power steering systems. They are hydraulic after all.

I had no idea it was this much pressure. I've taken apart the power steering pump and I wouldn't have though that those gears would create so much pressure.

yea i thought about taking some fittings from the yard, the ends that go to the pump and rack, and welding on steel aeroquip adaptors to AN taper, then i can run aeroquip powersteering hose and reroute my hoses away from the manifold.
