Hey guys, just been searching all over the forums but I can't seem to find the info. Just wondering if anybody knows the gear ratios of the ES2 Transmission? I will search in my service manual tonight to see if I can find the info, but if it's already been posted, I'd hate to have not been able to find the post. Just wondering if anybody had any idea.

The reason I ask, is I've got my car scheduled for a dyno pull tomorrow night in Vancouver, WA. I'm just wondering which gear you guys think I should pull in? I know you're supposed to go as close to 1:1 as possible. I know 5th is overdrive, so it probably a bit taller, but would 4th be closer?

If any 3gee's guys read this who've done dynos, what gear did you guys use? I figure the 2g and 3g's ratios aren't that far off. I'll post my results tomorrow too... What do you guys think my 275,000 mile, slightly smokey, hard-driven, CVCC 1.8 liter ES2 will be pulling?

Oh BTW, it's 86hp stock! At the crank! Think maybe I'll be lucky if I'm in the high 50's?

The ratios should be in the specifications of your shitting the 5 speed book. unless thats what they shat.

I found it in the factory service manuals that I have. I found two different 5 speeds actually and a 4 speed:

Canadian 4 Spd
1st: 2.380
2nd: 1.560
3rd: 1.032
4th: 0.729
FD: 4.071

Canadian & European 5 Spd w/ 1.6ltr Engine
1st: 3.181
2nd: 1.842
3rd: 1.200
4th: 0.870
5th: 0.676
FD: 4.071

European 5 Spd w/ 1.8ltr
1st: 3.181
2nd: 1.944
3rd: 1.250
4th: 0.933
5th: 0.757
FD: 4.071

EDIT: Finally added in those final drive ratios... :)

Yeah it did actually... I will append that to this thread tonight when I can get home and look it up in the books.

I suppose I should post the info for the Automatics as well...

Oh BTW this all came from service manuals for 1984, so if anything changed in 1985 I don't have that information. Or perhaps if the SEi had different ratios or something...

You've got conflicting info on the Final drives. Which one is correct, 4.071 or 3.866?

I'll faq this once you clarify it.

It's 3.866 for the USDM Accords, and 4.071 for the Canadian and European Accords. This is straight out of the Honda FSM's.

Ahh, I didn't notice the european part. I assume that the rest of the ratios are the same.
