Here is my problem.
After searching for a while, I couldn't find an answer.
I wiil soon swap the B20A4 in my Aerodeck.
Before I put the engine in the bay, I would like to change the clutch (since the one on the engine has approximately 130 000 miles on it).
As it seems easier to find performance clutches for 3G Preludes (B20Ax), I intend to buy one soon since performance parts for B20 3G Accords are nearly inexistant...
My question is : Will a 3G Prelude clutch fit a B20A4 Accord 3G engine ?
If so, it will be a lot easier to find performance parts for my engine :)

Are you aware of that a B20A4 engine is a SOHC 3rd gen prelude engine? The Accord B engines are: B20A, B20A1 (from 2nd gen prelude, but it's the same), B20A2 and B20A8.

Mine is a DOHC and I think it's written B20A4 on the block.
I'll check this afternoon.
Anyway, it's a DOHC, for sure :

Do you know where I can find a stage 1 or 2 clutch for a DOHC B20 engine ?
On Egay, I've found many clutches that are said to be for Prelude 88-89 Si, but I really don'y know what engines are in these cars in the US.
Can someone help me with different Preludes/engines from these years ?
Thanks !

Oh, I see you already have a donor car, no problem then. The one you have there is a B20A8.
Why do you need a stage1 or 2 clutch?
US preludes: B20A3 SOHC, B20A5 DOHC, B21A1 DOHC.
There are 2 different B20A5 clutch types depending on which tranny it has, I think it's roughly divided into 88-89 model and 90-91 model at the aftermarket vendors. I cant remember if both of them fits though.

Wow a fellow Honda enthusiast on the right side of the water!!
Where abouts is Grenoble?
What i would do is pull the engine get the old clutch out then take it over to your parts place as long as they have the clutch kits in stock then compare to see what fits. But having said that if you go in there and ask for the clutch kits catalogue you should be able to tell from part numbers if the clutch and disk are the same normally third party makes use the same part numbers on the clutches and disks. Only other option is to maybe look at doing the 3G prelude ally flywheel swap. Ferrodo do a standard clutch kit which is good, also with European B20A they have less power than JDM ones so the clutch is good for upto 160bhp.
any pics of the Aerodeck? would be nice to see one with B20A inside on this side of the water.

I've checked, and my engine is not a B20A8.
It's a B20A2.
For the clutch, I can find parts, but the price is just crazy (more than 400 USD for a clutch kit here...). And it's for OEM parts.
That's why I want to make sure I'll buy the right kit on ebay.
Is a Prelude 88-89 Si always fitted with a 2.0 DOHC engine in the US ?
Or can the Si model be fitted with a SOHC engine ?
If so, is there a difference between the B20 DOHC engine clutch, and the B20 SOHC one ?
I'm feeling confused... lol
rjudgey, Grenoble is in south east France. Great roads, nice weather... (150 miles from the sea)
Thanks for the tips for the clutch, but I do not want to buy it in France (too expensive).
For the pics, there are some here : http://www.3geez.com/forum/showthread.php?t=48108
There will be some pics of the swap soon (I will start on my next free week end).
thegreatdane I think I should use the 88-89 clutch.
I think the B21A1 was only in Preludes after 90.
Now the only thing I need to know : The 88-89 "SI" model only refers to B20A5 DOHC engines ? Or is it possible to find a B20 SOHC engine in an "SI" Prelude ?

You can buy replacement clutch kit's from LUK, Sachs and other makes too, no need to buy an original and expensive honda clutch.
The US Si models are all B20A5 engines.
oh, that's right you french guys didnt get catalysators on your cars as early as other countries. That's why it's a B20A2 then.
Too bad you're so far away, otherwise I'd love to get some bodyparts from your spare accords. looks like they're in good shape. Could use a spare trunk lid.

Thanks a lot for the info !
I'm gonna buy a Stage 1 or Stage 2 clutch kit on Ebay.
For the cars, they're in pretty good shape. If you want some pieces, I'll make a thread once everything will taken off the car.
The swap will start once I receive the clutch :)
