I have searched for specs on the factory radio. come up nil.

I want to know what are the stock specs and how much can it power.
right now it has 4 6" 15W speakers that equals 60W total and i have 4 tweeters inline with each speaker.

Also if it's possible to connect a sub with a common ground with all the speakers so it gets more bump. not super large maybe like a 7-8" sub.

THanks for info.

well trying to add a sub would mess with impedence(ohm's) i personaly wouldent hook a sub up to a stock deck with out an amp it will eather mess the deck up or mess the sub up

it will, most likely, blow the amp on the deck since it would be pulling so much power that your deck probably doesn't have.

actually i love my stock radio it bumps my car plenty SInce i grounded the car with that 4 guage wire. no noise, or static or anything.

i'm just trying to figure if i can buy 4 new 6" speakers with higher wattage.

and the sub i would need some sort of AMP, amps ar'nt hard to build.

yeah i would not recomend any subs on a stereo...me being the example...i pluged in my 10 inch sub to my deck and now my deck is weak....the internal amp is slowly dieing.

If the amp has high inputs (speaker level) it could be used to drive a subwoofer.

Don't think it has high level according to this.

Heres the problem 6inch speakers are'nt really made so i guess i have to get 4 6.5" speakers

Here are the color codes to hook-up a radio to your 3rd gen. I strongly recomment you buy an adapter that will allow you to keep your original harness but if it's already missing, cou can use this code

trust me personally i hate super loud radios in cars. I'm happy with it. just trying to find out the Wattage output, without having to resort to my school smarts.
Power (W) = V X I
yada yada yada and all those neat things from DC/AC class.

no theres a 8pin connector on the back of the stock stereo u should be able to tape into the lines directly and use them as a low level output

DDRaptor
09-18-2006, 01:57 PM
ok that connector is obviously seperate from the other harness with the speaker out puts. i think i understand now. the how to on getting the radio out has no pictures anymore but it should'nt be so hard.

So if what your telling me is right that extra connector leads to nowhere on my deck since i don't have an EQ. So how exactly would i use those connection, cause according to your posted code it also has an input so can that be used as a permanent input?

thanks for clearing up your post.

damn that's alot of s*^t, that install looks clean. well anyways tommorow is street cleaning day so i have to move the car regardless now i have to take out the radio and take some pictures. And i'll put my skills out there and use my multimeter to meter the AC volts and the current and try to figure out stock output wattage.

when i took out my dx speakers i think they said 30 watts....so it could be 120watts? for speakers so the stereo should be around that

that seams like alot for a stock stereo more like 15watts a ch sounds better

im not sure if it was 30watts or 15.....btw it just said high powered on the honda deck. but yeah if the bose se-i can with 120 watts amps our cars must of came with 60 watts.

DDRaptor

the pictures make is seem kinda bulky, you had 2 caps 2 amps a 10inch. I'm thinking it could be between 60-120Watts max. cause i have 15w speakers, he has/had 30 watt speakers which would make sense since speakers have regular inputs and their max input is around double the regular input.

Here are the specs from my 1989 Acc Brochure

So the DX is like 3 Watts per channel @ 1% THD?

and the LX/LX-i is 10 Watts per channel @ 1%THD?

DDRaptor
09-18-2006, 09:17 PM
That's what it seems like. that's alot of options just for the Se-i lucky people at the time.

Not just for SE-i's

That Brochure is for ALL 1989 Honda's

oh, hmm mine is'nt any on of those but the first has the button config the same except for some slight things. guess they changed radios for 89?

I tested the system today . 4 ohm speakers have a resitance of exactly 3.7.

And the AC volateage out at midway volume is around 1.0 - 1.2 V with the the bass and treble adjusters maxed. i can go 3/4 before it starts crackling. before the grounding wire i would crakle at half without the bass maxed.

but i can't get the power output because my multimeter does'nt have AAC field so i could'nt measure the current.

So roughly around 4.5-4.7 volts AC is about the max these speakers can handle cause at 5V it begins to crackle.
