My 3geez (88 LX, carb) buck when I let go of
the gas pedal too quickly. For example, let's say
I'm doing 20 mph in the parking lot and very
quickly lift my foot off the gas pedal. The result
is the car will buck like a horse one time. The
behavior is as if the engine is providing torque
in the opposite direction, suddenly slower down
the car. This problem is very noticeable on 1st
and 2nd gear, barely noticeable on
3rd gear, and nonexistent on 4th and 5th gears.
The original owner said it behaved this way
from day one off the dealer lots. Do all 3geez
behave this way?

Thanks.

88 Lx, Carb, totally stock

If you let your car cruise like in first or second at around idle speed it will do it. If it seems to do it excessively check your motormounts to see if any are broken.

Exactly how do you check the motor mounts? Visually, they look good.
