With the Si? Prolly. They screw you hard cuz of the car and your age.

I'm getting raped worse than you actually. Just the 1 car too, minor accident (which I don't think should count), no tickets. About the same rate.

Si and RSX are super high insurance cars, and being young and owning one makes it worse.

Yeah I was expecting to pay over $3000/yr just for My Si, However.. The insurance company knows that My Accord is my Daily Driver and the Si is going to be garaged and driven on the weekends or for pleasure.. PLus the Si Has Side impact airbags, theft immobilizer, Etc...

So's the RSX.....and it's the base. I have a discount too for being an ASME member. But what you use as the daily driver makes a big difference.....mine is my commuter car.

Oh I automatically assumed you had the Type S, what motor does the Base have? its still a K series right? Or is it that R18 mousewheel motor that is in the 8th gen Civic LX, EX?

id actually consider that pretty cheap. if i wasnt a secondary driver on the BMW, it would cost me almost 6k to insure for a year. for me to get just liability would cost me about 1500 a year now, probably a bit less though, and thats with no accidents or tickets.

im not sure why insurance companys charge considerably more for a civic Si or a type S(i got quotes on both already) as i really only see them as having a slightly better engine. but to charge an extra $1400 a year just to have a better engine is just ridiculous

When you under 25 your insurance is HIGH.

When you under 25 your insurance is HIGH.

why is it that 25 is the age where your rates go down? ive never really understood that and why they wouldnt base it off your driving record instead

ChaseR

My guess is that Men under the age of 25 are Statistically involved in more motor vehicle accidents than those over 25

Yeah, it's an age insurance companies see your not at "high risk". They feel by that time, your more than likely married & settled down. Also, you have more experience driving now & not likely to get in an accident.

btw I got the k20a3, same engine in the last gen Si. New Si is comparable to the type s.

ChaseR
09-23-2006, 05:36 PM
So you have a 160Hp motor correct? the k20Z3 in the Si make 197 and Im pretty sure the K20XX Cant remember exactly makes like 110????

I'm 20... and me and my wife pay 1300 every six months for these cars

1988 Accord Lx-i Coupe 195xxx - basic liability
1995 Civic CX Hatch 105xxx - full comprehensive with 100 (yes that's two 0's) deductable.

so i'd say yours is pretty good since both of our cars together blue book for less than 7k.

Why do you need 2 cars?

Sell one, then you only pay half the amount. :)

Peace.

OUCH, we pay 900 for THREE vehicles, Full coverage 500 deductible on the 2000 ram, Liability and uninsured motorist and hail coverage on the 96 Teg and the 89 Honda. I'm 28 with about as many tickets as my age, no wrecks. Wife has a few wrecks, and a few tickets (none of the wrecks were her fault though, hell one was in the Honda that paid me more than I paid for the car initially LOL.)

Being young and driving a fast car is expensive to insure though.

Married makes it cheaper.

Yeah its the 160hp. I don't know of any k series with 110hp.....that's pretty damn weak. You sure Si doesn't have k20a2? That's what type s has. There is some k20z or some thing like that....but I don't think that is a US version....that's like the type R or something.

so what if a guy insures his first car at the age of 25?
Well, hard to say. I'd guess the age would over come the experience.

my car accounts for ouly $500 of the yearly family insurance bill which covers four cars. so i can't complain.

and the ep3 si = base rsx in motor. k20a3. the older rsx-s has a different motor than the new rsx-s which is a different motor than the new si. old rsx-s = k20a2, new rsx-s = k20z1(?). new civic si has k20z3.

i wonder how much insurance will be for a 16 yr old with liability insurance for the 89 accord with a 3.0GPA? I know that GPA makes a difference.
