If the windows are scratched on the outside and not on the inside, will it affect the way the tint looks? Or if i want to tint i have to replace the window?

It shouldn't, tint lays on the inside of the window.

That's what i thought also, i just thought maybe the scratchs would show alot, so i guess im tinting the LX:)

any scratches on the outside will not affect the tint one bit. now if you have scratches on the inside where the tint is placed then you would have a problem. you gonna tint the '89? just got my 3gee done and i love it.

Yes the 89, im hoping to do it, i will look closer for scratchs as soon as it's off the jack stands(axle replacement). I only noticed scratchs on the outside.

Just make sure after you get it nobody puts their nails/hands on the inside, it's likely to scratch, and if you get your windshield done, change your own oil, i work at midas, these guys i work w/ man they scratch the shit all the time. and they just go, hmmm weird....

Also check w/your local laws, some tint is toooo dark for them :D

if they're big ass scratches you might want to get new glass before you tint but otherwise i wouldn't worry bout it. even if they are more visible the benefits of tint would outweigh them imo

ooo yeah i think i'd replace the glass if you've got scratches like that. just go to the junkyard and pull a window or something

for reference i've got 50 front, 35 rear sides, 15 rear window.. i ilke it not too dark but still affords some nice privacy

is there any product out there that can buff out scratchs on glass? like something similiar to rubbing compound.

my car has ones just like those. the tint somewhat hides them unless the windows get dirty or something. but looks pretty normal. you're gonnna get the tint done by a shop or something right?

heres how mines looking with new tint. 5% rear ,35% up front. fairly easy to see out of at night and keeps the car a lot cooler inside during the day.

sorry to threadjack, but wouldnt the tint get scratched up tho, because the windows are scratched? mine has quite a bit of scratches, and i wanna tint too, but i dont want my tint to get wrecked

HondaBoy

nah, the ouside of the window is the only thing getting scratched up. the inside usually doesnt get those wierd scratches, mine has it on the driver door. but my tint is just fine.

Did they have Lousiana by any chance? I see people driving around with all windows tinted like a limo even the windshield, cant even see them:wtf:
