View Full Version : exhaust gasket leaking

This is not on my SE-i, but on my '85 Volvo V6 (120k). It's not too bad yet, but it will surely get worse. The problem with this motor is the clearance..if the mechanic busts off the stud, getting at the hole might necessitate removing the head....making the job too expensive for this old car (it ain't cool like the Honda). Is there any way I could inject some kind of goop into the leak and maybe plug up what so far is a pretty small (judging by the sound) opening? I've never heard of doing this, but I figured it's worth a shot to ask.

can you hellicoil it to fix the stud?

why can' he helicoil the stud? I just went through this on all seven of my exaust studs,the clearance on this car isn't too cool eithier

here is the thread,make sure if he helicoils it use a guinine helicoil. only the real ones can actually say helicoil,it's a trademarked name. http://www.3geez.com/forum/showthread.php?t=55731
