ok might have found another spoiler this is off of a ford,I think it's an eighties mustang. it looks wierd right now because it's sitting on top of the studs, since there are no holes yet. I have to do a bit of grinding on the bottom of the part where it sits over the glass, but thats not a big deal

I have to use a round flap wheel to create a little bit of clearance where the wiper arm sits, should be no big deal to do.

Wow I like it a lot lost. It has the cut out for the rear wiper bade too. Just throw a little spray paint on there or get it painted with the car and it'll look real good.

its ok just do what i did.. get rid of the wiper all to getheryea but I like my rear wiper,it makes it eaisier to see. I'll get it painted up after I get everything fitted. there is a ridge on the bottom edge of it where it is near the glass. I have to do some grinding on that ridge so it fits flush. I think this was off of a mustang from the eighties. the hatch on it was very close to mine. this isn't plastic eithier,It's heavy hand laid fiberglass. this actually should work,it had bracing that bolted to the inside of the hatch,I got all that too. I've always felt the hatchs were a bit squirrely in the back, a little downforce helps balance the car out and helps the rear suspension. even the old one from the nissan had some affect. I used to have a picture that showed the airflow over the back,it tumbles a bit off the back glass, this should help smooth it out and keep the air coming off the back from being so turbulent. the factory one that is part of the sheet metal on the back does this, but it's not really big enough to be effective.

Looks like it could work really well... nice find. I definately cant wait to see this fitted and on there.

well it'll be black, the entire car will be black and silver. going to keep the factory trim black. right now,I'm painting the spoiler,I had to do some grinding on that ridge on the bottom edge of it,where the old car used to line up with it. it looks like there will be a gap between the front edge of the spoiler and the body,I have a roll of 3/8 thick black neoprene that I will make a body gasket from and get rid of that gap. so far looking good. I still need to get some rubber washers,I made the spoiler mount holes oversize so I could fine adjust the spoiler where I needed it to go. I will try to get some pictures tomorrow.

ok took a few more, tomorrow I'll work on fitting it to the car better, have to make the gasket for the front edge of it yet. I was trying to figure out where to find some material to make the stud sealing washers and it dawned on me,my mouse pad is made from 1/8 thick neoprene rubber. so tomorrow my mouse pad will be shorter.

funny a mustang spoiler look like an oem fitting peice...it lokks really good though cant wait 2 see outcomeyea we were originally looking for another nissan spoiler to replace the one that got vandalized(little rotten pricks) but we couldn't find one,we looked at every spoiler in 2 yards trying to find one that will fit this hatch. I spotted this one as I was leaving, almost missed it. it's amazing how few spoilers will fit on this hatch. I know the one off of the nissan maxima will fit,but it has to be the one with the four mounting points. a lot of them have three. actually if anyone finds one like i had before I still have the four aluminum posts that allow it to fit on the hatch. it's pretty easy to do. if someone wants them,PM me and I'll send them to you for shipping cost. thse were custom made by me for mounting a four point nissan maxima spoiler on a hatch. I just hate to see them sit in a box and collect dust. I'm also selling the Led brake light that fits in the factory nissan spoiler,I figure I can try to get something out of my loss. if you want the part number on it PM me also and I'll let you know what it is. I believe it fits a variety of maxima spoilers and possibly other nissans. all the leds in it work.

dude...when are you going to paint your car? i say you do the 50 buck paint job...you seem like a guy that should and can do that :Dwell I will be going back to school soon,if I do that I will have access to a high tech downdraft booth and Sata equipment. my wife and I put so much metal work in the body I hate to rush the paint, anywhere there is primer on the car there is metal work. and i'm not talking about slap some bondo in it. talking about hammer and dolley work, metal shrinking, pulling etc. there is very little filler in the car, just very light coats. stuff like that filler panel under the rear lights, half of that had to be fabricated from scratch. the left side of the hatch floor was pushed up from a road race incident years ago and took a ton of work to put back in shape. I would have already liked to have painted it but I had a lot of mechanical repairs that had to come first also. a nice paint job doesn't do much good when the car won't run. LOL. if anyone else wants to try this with one of these spoilers, the main thing you have to do is remove the two forward studs that would hit the glass, then grind the ridge from the front of the wing to about halfway back. and blend it in on the underside. this allows it to clear the glass. I also put neoprene tabs under the edges of the wing front where it contacts the glass. this prevents any glass damage and keeps it from rattling. also you have to grind some clearance for the wiper arm.

yeah that is the best way to take out dents.....our teacher said that on very high end shops they dont use alot of bondo....like if you put a dent on a ferrari you have to replace the whole panel....anyways my car has alot of bondo...next time i will try to use less of it.

I totally agree with your train of thought... all that time and effort put into the body work would be wasted with a shitty paintjob. Spoiler looks great though, i like that look.

ok it's off of a 1988 ford escort gt,the ford is just a little wider so the spoiler on it fits on the metal instead of over the glass. very much alike though.

just for a laugh had to post what this guy said about his car

I really liked this car, but I couldn't really tell you why. It was the car that took me from one point in my life (high school) to the next (college), but it sure costed me a lot of money along the way. Not including all of the accessories and upgrades, this car broke down on a regular basis and had some extremely serious electrical problems. I had to get rid of it when the entire electrical system that goes into the dash basically melted down and the car just wouldn't work. The car had air conditioning, but I don't know why, because if you'd turn it on the car would die. If you turned the a/c on while going down the highway, you'd feel like you hit a brick wall and then the fuel mileage would drop about 15 miles per gallon. After all the electrical work, the clutches, the broken windows, the alternators, the ball joints, the brakes, etc, this car just finally gave up on me and it was really for the better. I'm going to try my best to forget about this nightmare of a car.

and anyone wonders why there are so many accords of this time period on the road, and so few escorts? LOL my ex wife had the same exact problems,I guess Fords are always going to be melting down from electrical problems

yes lost the escort GT which looks similar to the fox mustang chassis had a weird center console with warning indicators. tim take ur time with the paint uve done enough work to it, and from exp. it will result in a better paint job,

doen draft boths are great, ive worked in both side draft and down draft, but i prefer the down draft b/c of the way the overspray is evacuated from the booth also is less likely wehn clear coating to get a "dusting" effect liek u do in side drafts.
