My friend told me that our a20 engines hold up great when using nitrous. He said that a guy in a town next to mine is running a 100- 150 shot on stock internals and it has never blown. I was wondering if this was true. if so, what makes our engines do durable?

we have cast iron blocks.....i would not try that big of a shot with a stock engine....this has been discussed many time.....the cost will catch up to you after you have to refill your bottle many times....boast is the bigest bang for the buck.

100-150 shot? i think your frind is full of shit.
The most you can run without doing major rebuild or other things, would be 75 shot. It would be pushing the limits of the stock engine.
I know people run 50 shot with no problem.

So, asuming that my engine does not smoke and it runs strong with no noises or clanks, I could safely run a 50 shot of nitrous through my engine.

I got a NOS dry 50 shot I am getting rid of. I went through two bottles before I blew my 98 civic all to hell. What do you expect with 200k on the engine. I was wanting to tear it up so I would have an excuse to tear it down and rebuild her. I wouldn't go any larger that 75 but 50 is pretty safe. I shot my civic with a 150 shot and blew her up. It was not pretty. I took those jets out and put the 50's in and threw the 150 shot jets away.
