Whats up guys -- i'm new to the site (obviously)

I just came up on a 1986 Accord LX. My neighbor was selling it for $300, so I went to go check it out, so I could get myself a daily driver. I take the car to get smogged and OH MY GOD... This thing is in horrible condition.

I won't get into all the things that are wrong with it, but it's alot.
Basically, after I explained to her everything that was wrong with the car, she handed me the papers and the keys and said "just take it, it's yours."

So, after finding this site through honda-tech.com, I looked into converting to fuel injection. I plan on getting this car back to stock, and making it reliable.

I'm heading down to the junkyards in Otay Mesa (right on the mexico border) tomorrow to pick up parts for the conversion. Hell, I might just end up buying an LXi motor.

Here's some pics of the project accord, I know the pics suck, but it's all I have right now:

The only part of the fuel injection conversion I'm not looking forward to is pulling the dash.
Has anyone here done it? How difficult/time consuming is it?
Its a BITCH doing it on the VR4, but it has ALOT of wiring... hopefully the accord will be a little easier.
I plan on keeping this as a daily driver, but knowing me, i'll get the urge to start modding it...

Yeah... I don't how the hell the rust got that bad...

As far as the meet... if it's not too far from SD (hopefully not compton :D ), I'll try to make it. Gotta see if i'll be workin.
I might be in the vr4 though, until I can get the accord to stop smoking and leaking oil :(

That's good to know.

The whole interior needs rewiring anyway.
Hell, you can't roll down the windows without flipping this little red switch which turns the windshield wipers on at the same time... It's kinda embarrasing actually.

I've got quite a project ahead of me... I'm just gonna take it one thing at a time I guess.

Just got back from the junkyard...

I decided not to pick up parts for the fuel injection conversion until I have more time and money on my hands.
I did, however, pick up alot of exterior and interior parts to pretty it up at least a little bit.
I was really pissed... I found an '87 LX with PERFECT interior there, it must have just been brought there...
but it was 10 minutes before they closed, so I didn't have time to pull anything out.
I was going to pick up exhaust piping, since its leaking and has no muffler, but I forgot that the junkyards chop off the cat... so i'm pretty much screwed unless I buy it new or weld a cat on.
I'm at least going to pick up a muffer next time i'm there. That'll bolt up to the leaky exhaust and I guess i'll just have a shop weld any holes and a new cat on.

And as far as the rust... I'm just going to ghetto bondo it and spray the car.
ALL the paint is super fucked up, so it needs some kind of paint until I decide to get it to macco.

Next, I gotta figure out exactly where the massive oil leak is coming from.

nice find :) shame about the rust.

the gasket on the cover for the head could be leaking comon on these cars or the head gasket is leaking oil...

what is it auto or manual?

Cover for the head? You mean the valve cover gasket? Yeah, that's leaking too, but it's a slow leak. I'm just gonna take some RTV to that.

I'm hoping the head gasket is alright, but I have a gut feeling it's blown. There was a good amount of white smoke pourin out of that thing, but I didn't drive it far enough to see if it would overheat.

It's a 5spd manual.

The rear main seal was my first thought when I saw the amount of oil...
I'm gonna get it to my friend's shop on thursday, clean the undercarrage, put some dye in the oil, and do some searching...

I don't really like bench racing, because the driver is a HUGE part of what car will win any race.

But, here's specs on the two cars:

2007 Honda s2000:
2.2L Inline 4
HP: 240 @ 7800
TQ: 161 @ 6800
Curb Weight: ~2800lbs
Redline: 8000

1994 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4
3.0L V-6
HP: 320 @ 6000
TQ: 315 @ 2500
Curb Weight: ~3700lbs
Redline: 7000

Oh, and if it makes you feel any better, this is my avatar on socal3s.com, a socal 3000GT & stealth forum:

An S2000 and a VR4 would be a good lineup (stock for stock) They're 0-60s are practically the same. The VR4 has the advantage of AWD take off...while the S2000 has that weight drop. Tough call on the win.

Hopefully the post whores had their cute pizza party...contribute to threads damnit! Heh.
