I tried popping my my muffler off once. I gave up. Problem is, it's been on the car for 20+ years; heating, cooling, heating, cooling. Corroding. I'm pretty sure they're corroded together and the only thing you can do is cut them apart.

the angle grinder is your friend. then u will have to somehow drill a new hole and put new bolts in, or just replace your exhaust. im ALLWAYS haveing that problem.

It's called a cut-off wheel mounted on a die grinder.

Does your basic tool selection have a hacksaw?
I took a large sledge to the bracket I cut off my '84 to see if it would come loose. It didn't. I've seen welding less solid than muffler corrosion.
