LOLLOLOLOLLOLLLlaugh my face off. me and a few friends were gunna do a 3g accord ca18det swap but decided not to as we had no time.

rwd is better than fwd and awd because:
you can do skids
you can do doughies
you can do more skids
you can drift them with ease WITHOUT using the handbrake
only bad thing is you can drive on grass or a rwd will get stuck.

fwd and awd come even. fwd is good for standstils and blowing tyres and they get more traction than a rwd. and everything is in one package. awd is also beter than fwd and rwd for traction cause its both:P. but when it comes to skids awd sucks arse...just like subarus......... and you say rwd is too american... ur wrong mate...rwd is nissan and nissan is jap. american is 3934534.348l v8 with auto gearboxes and fat rear tyres and ford 9 inch diffs. :D there ya go

Honda has made a name for themselves in producing great handling FWD cars that give good performance an economy, RWD = s2000 or the mid-engine NSX. If you want a RWD to do skids & drifts then go buy a skyline, personally I think a RWD would be useless to have fun with when its been turned by a torque less high performance NA engine.

Also, let's clear up some things here. Skylines are not very good drift cars because they're awd (except the gts-t models). They're awd system is super pimpy because it acts like RWD until it detects wheelspin, then transfers power forward--much better than the 50/50 split design of subaru and whatnot.

Just felt the need to clear that up....

LOL @ THREAD!

but seriously, american cars can, and do last more than 100k miles.

Dodge diesel trucks like my neighbors (2003 cummins 3500) has a 400k mile warranty on the motor before it has to be rebuilt.

Not to mention, GM now has that 100k mile warranty.

also, My step dad has a 98 ford taurus, with over 170k on it, and it runs just fine. My mom has a 96 saturn which is made by GM, 133k and runs ok.

I regularly service a later 90's ford f-150 that has over 250k miles on it, granted it's a POS, but it still runs. and another F-150 with over 310k miles on it, and it looks like new.

Dodge Neon has known oil-ring problems, search it up you will find so many problems with them.

Dude, you don't know how tempted I am to put that in my signature...especially after reading your comments on this thread about american cars sucking because they don't last. That vehicle my friend has one of the LEAST life expectancies on record (hence why SRT-4s stopped production after a couple years...honestly, I wasn't sure what Mopar was thinking to begin with.)

Anyway, back on topic. I think in the future, I do see, perpahs an HFP Accord going all wheel drive. It just sounds like something that would be included in an HFP package later on in Honda's future.

RWD > AWD > FWD

That's my opinion anyway.

The BIG disadvantage to AWD is drivetrain loss.
As an example:
The 3000GT's with the fastest 1/4 mile times have all been FWD, only because they don't make a RWD 3000GT :-\
The AWD is great for launch... great for 60ft. After that, the 2WD takes over.
AWD gets better traction than both FWD and RWD, but the loss of power through all the drivetrain isn't always worth it.
RWD gets better traction that FWD on the 1/4, because while accelerating, all the weight shifts to the rear. This is the reason why 99% of drag cars are RWD.
The only reason most cars were made FWD is because they are much cheaper to manufacture.

As far as handling goes, it's arguable between AWD and RWD.
RWD is easier to control that FWD, but AWD has a traction advantage.
Systems like quattro in the audi's, and other awd systems (new acuras, etc.) are electronically controlled to help cornering.

BTW... i'm rambling drunk so i hope this makes sense.

No... if you studiet fisics then you know, thet under akseleration all waight transfear back, the point is thet under axeleration you lose much grip coz front of the car lifts up. you can play alot more with RWD tho

shepherd79
11-09-2006, 08:23 AM
there is nothing wrong with RWD cars. I like Ford crown vic or Lincoln town car. they are nice, big and they ride very comfy.
The FWD cars are a lot cheaper to make and if you think, it takes less Hp to move the car if it has FWD.
Little example. take a wheel barrow, fill up with sand and try to push it up to hill. this time do the same except try to pull it . you will see it is much easier to pull than push.
a lot of Honda awd systems are actually fwd systems. awd will turn on when one of the front tires slipping, full throttle engaged or turned on manually.

As far as skyline goes, they come with RWD. they don't have as much hp as GTR but it is enough for that car. on R32 and R34 all you have to do is pull out the fuse to turn off the front wheels. all the power will go to the back. On R33 is a little diff. You have to actually remove the axels. to make it RWD.

snoopyloopy

what do they badge the acura rl as in other parts of the world? that could be what you want. 300 hp awd car right there. costs damn near $50k, though. but anyway, imo, depends on what your driving style is and the purpose of the car. but awd > rwd > fwd for general use as a daily driver. and for setting track records. reportedly the fastest 4 cylinder car in the world is awd. (1g eclipse gsx--look up sheppard racing over on youtube.) but for raw fun and power, i'd take a rwd. and when i want to save energy fuel, fwd will have to suffice.

Yes they did. AND cabrio as standart. Not good for drifting. Soft body makes whole chasy to wongel.
A normal coupe would have like 40000N - 60000N in the shel with chasy.
A cabrio have 20000N - 25000N.
You se the point? tho drift with S2000 you need some moods to body, to stifen up a bit. mager flo

most skylines you see are RWD.. and the R32's that arent, can very easily turned RWD by turning the car off then on while its still rolling.. a guy i know used to leave HUGE twinies around our local suburb from doing that.
and quite alot of skylines drift.. watch some movies and im sure youll see a few.

Yeah but why waste engery spinning a long axle from the front to the rear of the car. now if it was rear or mid engine and RWD I might get RWD.

speedpenguin
11-15-2006, 07:13 PM
Well, I get more and more supportive of a RWD Honda sedan as the Accords get bigger and bigger. FWD is fine for a car our size, actually it can be an advantage because of the lighter weight. But the current Civic is the size of our cars now. I think it's time Honda stopped feeding steroids to its cars.
