Here are some new pics of the ride. Still workin' on the flush headlight conversion and needs lots of other work...sorry bout the shitty quality; the pictures looked better on the digi cam.

Here are some pics of the 96-97 Accord lip I cut in half and mounted on a new 89 Accord bumper. Beleive it or not, I cut and used a couple of paint trays to extend the sides to match up with the original bumper. I've also included pics of the 03-04 Acura EL 1.7 side skirts I just picked up from Acura for $209, tax in; list price was $716. The rockers on the EL and our Accords are the same shape, ours just stick out a little further. Cutting 3cm from the middle of the skirts is the only mod I'll have to make to make 'em fit.

Thanks, I'll keep y'all updated and get some better pics and vids. For engine pics, check out my other thread "JDM H22 89 Accord Se-i Sedan Swap Completed and Running"; it's got pics of the swap! Here are a couple pics of my Alpine IVA-D310 Mobile Multimedia Station. It's a 7" wide screen with a fully automatic open/close mechanism; it's I-Pod, SAT and GPS ready but the GPS unit's another $1000!!! It plays MP3's/WMA's, DVD/R/RW's and even Windows Media!

Sweet. Looks like one of the headlights is in upside down or something, since both lights are lit up on the left side of their housings looking from the front.

That HU is nice too. Does the dash interfere with the screen flipping up?

Looks good... I like the idea for the headlights. Not a big fan of the front lip, but it should look alright.

And I had been wondering about EL side skirts, I was thinking of trying to find some myself.

H22AccordSE-IV
11-15-2006, 03:02 PM
Thanks Speed. Yeah, I was playing with the lights on the left because I had only fabbed up one bracket at the time; I was still using the original pop-up bracket on the right which only allowed me to mount one light because of its irregular shape. I reversed the lights so the low was on the inside and high on the outside; tried it in PS first and kinda liked the way it looked. I never thought of it, but Carotman informed me that highs are on the outside by law for a reason - it's so you don't blind other drivers in oncoming traffic. When I get both new brackets done, I'll switch 'em to the legal setup. As for the HU, the dash doesn't allow it to tilt completely vertical, but the screen has a fully adjustable tilt feature and also allows you to adjust the monitor so it slides forward or backward in the unit when open, so it gives me some leeway. Although the screen leans forward slightly, the viewing is still great and doesn't bother me one bit.

Hey Hash, I picked up my skirts from Acura Woodbine in the Toronto Area. Here's the number - (416)748-8690. When I found the same skirts at an Acura in Vancouver, they wanted over $800 for the pair. $200 bucks is a fu*ckin' steal!!! I beleive the 1.7 EL wasn't that popular, so prices for accessories dropped up to 80%! When I called to order them, all they needed was my credit card # and I picked them up a few days later. If you are serious give them a call and maybe they can ship 'em to you. Otherwise contact your local Acura dealer and tell them to call Acura Woodbine; your local dealer should give them to you at the same price. If either of these ideas don't work, call Acura Woodbine, order them via credit card and we'll arrange something so I can pick 'em up and then ship 'em to you myself. PM me if you want 'em that bad. Here's a pic.
http://img140.imageshack.us/img140/4163/acuraelskirtsmr4.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

Now I'm gonna try to see if the rear skirt fits!

Hash_man_Se_i
11-15-2006, 05:12 PM
^^ Ya I'll check into it at the local dealer... is the length and everything right for them?... Cuz I like how simple they are.

H22AccordSE-IV
11-15-2006, 05:50 PM
Yeah, the skirts should fit with only a slight mod; they are 3 centimeters too long. I figure if I cut the 3cm from the middle of the skirt, then fill up the seam with a filler or something, like I'm doing with the 96-97 Accord front lip, they should fit perfect; next time you see the 03-04 1.7 EL or 03-04 Civic, take a close look at the rocker under the doors; you'll notice that the rocker panels are the same shape as ours except ours stick out a litte further so there will be a slightly bigger gap between the skirt and our doors. Otherwise, the skirts have 4 brackets that mount to the car, so when you cut them in half, each half can be mounted securely and individually, then molded together again.

I just bought a new distributor cuz the used one I got was a lemon; bad coil, bad crank sensor. A bit of advice: never buy used electrical parts!!! Coc*ksuckers won't even let me exchange it for a new one, they wanna give me another used one. Can U beleive this Sh*t?!? Right now she's in the shop waiting for an oil change and a part for the burned P28. Another prob is my license just got suspended for 6 months for an unpaid traffic ticket and cops love my car, so I gotta boogie in a rental for a while. Gotta pay a $1160 fine just to appeal the conviction!!! Pissed cuz I missed my trial by an hour. I'm thinking of leaving her in the shop for a couple months to have the cancer cut right outta her. 'Til then I'm gonna use the car cover I just bought to protect her from Canada's unforgiving climate cuz I have nowhere to store her right now.

I'd give you the more complicated explanation for posting pics, but to make things easy there is a little button on top of the box that you type in. There is a picture of a mountain on it. If you hover the mouse over it the words "Insert Image" will pop up. When you click on it, a little box will pop up. Paste the image link into the box and you're set!

well props to your setup man, thats more rare than an A20T! Ehh i wasnt sure if you really had it or not, there have been a few guys talking about H22 swaps (most of them ricers/shit talkers) i wasnt sure if you were for real or what lol. Well, get some slicks, i cant hook on street tires at all either. I bet you surprise alot of people with that car on the road, have you raced it yet? Yeah i built my setup myself but i have alot to do after i killed engine #2 a number of weeks ago, i need to finish my obd1 conversion, swap turbos, make a new turbo manfold with external wastegate (old one might come up for sale in a few mos) upgrade intercooler and injectors and go for big power. The engine isnt even broken in yet when it popped. Oh yeah new crank and rods meh... Have you thought about boosting the H22? An agressive clutch and 9-10 psi boost will make that thing haul SERIOUS ASS (im talking low-mid 12s)

H22AccordSE-IV
11-19-2006, 09:06 AM
I've thought about turbo, seriously, and I'd love it just to here the sound of the blow-off valve in action (LOL), but then I thought about keeping it NA and trying to pull 300 ponies out of the engine; custom intake manifold by Altech, P&P, new cams/cam gears, rods, pistons, Performance header, full catback exhaust, chipped ECU, Walbro 255lph fuel pump, bigger injectors, LSD, lightened flywheel, ACT clutch, light-weight pulleys etc. What else can bolt on for some extra juice? What do you guys think? NA or Turbo H22a? Let me know.

G.

MessyHonda

turbo is always cheaper in the long run.

AccordEpicenter
11-19-2006, 09:48 AM
turbo is always cheaper in the long run.

true, id say 300whp on boost is prolly doable at well well under 13 psi in that setup, the only problem with the h22 is that they tend to have weak cylinders and ringlands much after that, but for 300whp i would just boost it on the stock motor it should be absolutely fine on a stock build. Besides a turbo h22a 3g would be the only one in existance afaik

speedpenguin
11-19-2006, 09:50 AM
I think there is something you have to reinforce to before you try to boost an H22A. I'm going to look it up and get back.

That was what I was confused about.

shepherd79
11-19-2006, 10:36 AM
i love what you did with the engine and i give you two thumbs up for wanting to stay NA.
beside the mods you mention, you can try the stroket kit http://www.crower.com/cat/import/honda/stroker/stroker.shtml
it should make 2.2 into 2.5L. more torque and more power. with stroket kit and some head work done, sleaved cylinder block, nice cams and intake manifold and i think you can pull out 300hp or preatty close to it.

It changes the crank, piston, and rods to give a larger stroke thus creating larger displacement.

I'm planning on painting the car Dorado Gold Pearl, the same colour as my engine bay in the pics in the earlier posts. It's from a 2003 Toyota. Still not sure if I should go with a 2-tone, black on the hood, roof and trunk lid, and gold on the rest from the handles down. What do y'all think? Yeah? Why don't you get into a trade?

Here's a pic of my finished concept for the flush HL conversion; I Photoshopped the original HL cover over my lights and cut away the part I want exposed. Thinking of using some clear lexan to close it all in. Also included some close-up pics of the first bracket I made that's on the car now, and the new ones I'm working on to perfect fitment. If you'll notice, the new brackets will be all one piece, eliminating the separate bracket used for the third mounting point closest to the rad.

That's going to look really original if you can pull it off! I'm wondering what you're going to do next that everyone said is too hard.

Thanks again, y'all. The only other thing I can think of doing that's next to impossible is mating a 6-speed tranny with the H22, and I wouldn't even know where to begin. Anybody got any ideas?
I just picked up a silver PS2 slim, GT4 (with our 3rd gen coupe in it!), and a 400 watt power inverter. PS2 in the H22 Se-i. Yeah baby!

Honestly I dont even know what tranny you could use. The K-series is out, because those motors are turned the other direction. Maybe you could swap one from a v6 acura. Honestly I would just stay with the 5-speed and turbo that monster.

Hey, Legend, what do you mean the K-series is turned the other way? Just curious.
Irrelevant, but I just saw a K20 at my swap shop in a 98 (I think) Civic hatch; turbo, velocity stacks, full race header, custom Altech intake, the works, etc. A real piece of work I might add!!!

K-series engines spin in the other direction. The intake manifold is mounted towards the front and the exhaust manifold is towards the back, like if you took your engine and turned it around the other way.

Notice how the intake manifold in on the front of the motor and the exhaust is on the back. This mean that the rotation of the transmission is different.

EDIT: you would essentially end up with 1 drive gear and 6 reverse gears
