Is there any company that makes a short shifter for our cars?

Pace setter makes one, but you could also probabaly use a DC sports one from an 86-89 integra or an 85-87 civic with minor mods, there are no other companies that make them for our cars

I have the pacesetter, but i wouldn't recomend it. It has an adjustable ball, so it is just the shifter you have now, but you can move the pivot point, and that is not the right way to make a short throw. It moves the shift bar too close to the torsion bar so that they rub and make shifting very hard into some gears. Plus you really can't drop it all the way down, only a little less than half way. It is noticably shorter, but i would not recommend it.

I have the pacesetter short shifter and I like it. It's better than the long stock shifter and the shift are closer and easier to reach. Plus you can't beat that price. You spend that money in some other stupid stuff. Why not a short shifter! lol

I made my own. If you have access to a welder it is fairly easy. I have pics of the process if any one is interested.

I copied some of the basic pictures to my club photo account HERE (http://members7.clubphoto.com/david504233/896095/owner-7240.phtml) some of the pictures are a little fuzzy but you get the just af it.

1. Cut the shifter halfwat between the pivot ball and the lever eye.

2. Weld in about 1" from a bolt or cold rool stock .5" diameter.

3. dress accordingly.

I also move the shifter pivot point up the same amount as I linghten the shifter to keep from interfearing with the exhaust that sits under the shifter.

1. Gently grind the weld holding the pivot bushing housing from the suspension arm.

2. weld on a piece of exhaust tubing about 1" long. Weld the new pivot point to the suspension arm.

3. Dress and paint accordingly.

yahoo... i went and had 87hybrid make me a shifter today, and it fricken rocks! i cant really compare to the pacesetter shifter, since i have never used it, but this is really nice. it feels totally solid, and there is hardly any throw! i am pretty happy with it!

takes no effort to shift quick, i love it!
