here is a silly question why didn't you just take it out and put it back on the opposite way you put it on to see if you messed it up the wrong way?

I was curious if you rebuilt it & installed new springs & all? If you have any tips, let us know. I plan on rebuilding mine when it get warmer.

well that was it,it's just a pain in the ass to take it back out again is all. they make the dis so it only fits one way,but they can't make the reluctor say this side up stupid?

well all I had to do was put in a module, but I have taken them apart. as far as I can tell, the only thing that wears out is the bearing and seal. the bearings burn up over time due to lack of lubrication. I have a couple of them in plastic bags here somewhere. I just can't find the bearing and seal.

Are you talking about the little box on the outside of the dissy? I thought it was some sort of ignitor? <being as old as it is>

na,talking about the igniter unit inside of the dis, under the reluctor, the one you have to pry off and hope it doesn't break. thats the whole ignition on this one. power in,power out to the coil. nice and simple. the new unit I bought 11 months ago is failing randomly.

I guess the little box is something I can't think of this late.

do you have hitachi or tec distributor?
if you don't have tec, you should upgrade to it.

if you don't have tec, you should upgrade to it.hitachi,it's really not a bad dis. I don't see the reason to upgrade, the original module lasted 19 years. this is an aftermarket one.

I recently change my ignition module. If I remember correctly the markings on the reluctor faced outward toward the rotor.

dizzy in simple english-Round black unit under the hood of a car which supplies electricity to the spark plugs. Also known as "distributor"

dizzy is slang "terminology" in the automotive field for the distributor, especially with mechanics.

thanks for the help guys,I was trying to fix it in the middle of the night in freezing cold, had to get to work in the morning. somehow put the reluctor on backwards. I had been trying to see if thats what it was before pulling the dis back out again. I'm glad this car can now be in semi retirement so I can get something done on it. It's hard to work on a car always pushed into service day after day. we have the 98 civic as a daily driver/beater now, until my wife does the bodywork and paint then it'll be the nice daily driver. I caught a nasty cold from fixing mine in the cold too, just now getting over it.

I like the hitatchi... after having two TEC's blow up on me the hitatchi worked great... however the tec's I had gave me the best performance, the hitatchi probably would have been fine with some tweaking of the springs.
