How much boost, if any, can a bone stock '86 LX motor handle safely?

Thanks,

7-8 ish carbed

but you want to convert to EFI or else you'll have to work out a blow-through or draw-through turbo carb setup.

Do a compression test first and compare with factory specs. If the motor is in good condition, 8psi on a small turbo will work quite well.

efi on a good condition motor and a good tune, ehh 12-14psi boost max.

This turbo thing was just a quick thought through my mind...
My friend has a couple TD04 9B's sitting around from his VR4,
and I was thinking of doing a draw-through turbo setup on the accord to give it a little more get-up.
I'm getting kind of tired of this lack of power, at some points the car is almost un-driveable, like when i'm tryin to go up big hills.
I think I could chop a stock VR4 exhaust manifold and downpipe for the flanges, and custom build everything else.
Has anyone here done a turbo setup on a carbed accord?
I'd like to see some pics of the setup.

never seen one but it could be done. I think youll be better off with a blow through setup with a weber carb. I also think that Td04 might be a little small... what are your power goals?

its going to be lots of work....like some one said just get a webber and then try to turbo it....you are looking at like 2-3k of work tho

get the turbo rebuilt if it doesn't have a positive (Carbon) seal on the compressor side of the turbine, this is for draw through only.

Also you might want to look into SU carbs since I see them used on draw through setups frequently... though on smaller displacement motors.
