Don't laugh, they're real and they've been proven to work. (http://www.richmondlabs.com/Automotive/SuperchargerPost.html)

Not originally intended to be an intake-oriented forced induction device, but an emissions controlling exhaust force inducting device.

Think about this for a bit and come up with a few reasons why it wouldn't work. ;)

And finally found what I was looking for.

Gives you an idea of the output of each blower... I think most of the blowers that are smog pumps are used on carts and bikes, but not on cars as superchargers.

itll probably work fine but after you bolt up and get all the belts to work and work with all that charge piping to run a bunch of them you could just use a junkyard turbo and be done with alot more simplicity.

really how much boost can it produce? so far i can not find any article that can tell me how much boost it can make.
sure it will make diff on small engines. they don't require big boost to make huge gains.

this is a common concept alot of domestic owners thought of, hell i even thought of it on my 442 , in some cases it will do nothing

^lol^ well if it would make any kind of solid numbers on a a20 i would def try it but only if i could use just one

ya put 2 psi is still a bit a extra hp

so the one your looking at is an actual sc not a smog pump

I think they said about 2 psi becuase it has to overcome the exhaust pressure... but then exhaust will have vacuum too at times So really it doesn't need to be that high, unless it is going behind a turbo.

Awesome FI page. :)

No, 2 psi is for the smog pumps... and they are used on small cc motors, like 100cc-500cc maybe.

I'm interested in the AMR 500 or up

yeah

HA HA, My father and I were toying with adding a smog pump to his 1947 Crosley. It's a VERY small 4 cyl that puts out 26 hp stock. I know, laugh away but I can lift one end of the car myself. Using smog pumps as SC's on Crosleys is common practice. A pump from a 350 cid chevy will push the Crosley engine to almost 40 hp. That's a big gain for a part you can get at the JY.

I wanted to stick the smog pump on one of theses... http://www.smallenginebusiness.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=SEB&Product_Code=ET-H4055816&Category_Code=GKE

I'm looking for a small motor to put on a small bicycle... which will end up having a few mods to it to get wider rear tire... maybe from a moped.

Think it will have enough HP to work?

Jasonf860

That 4hp motor will have enough hp by itself to move someone along if you gear it right. I built a mini-bike for my neice that I used a 5hp briggs on and when it was all said and done, I sold it cause I geared it wrong and it went like 35 mph with me on it.

Check out these guys... I know it's volvo, but they are building kits for the 4cyl vintage Volvo's with dual Mikuni sidedrafts and a supercharger! They look like they could be adaptable to our A20a's with some machine work.

I wonder about a pair of Mikuni HSR 45 Flat Slides

very intrieging thread
superchargers are so expensive but making one from JY parts is right up my alley. I wonder where the heck you would put one if it is running off the crank. Remove AC compessor I suppose:confused:
EDIT, my question answered in the other supercharger thread
