I have 195 65r14 on my car now, but need studded tires and I have a chance to get a set of 175 65r14 for super cheap, so will they fit on my car?

They will fit but your tire will be shorter and narrower, you'r speedo will read about 4.25% slower because of the shorter tirer. Personally I wouldn't do it, your loosing contact area by going with a smaller tire.

That is an acceptable size for snow tires if you're getting a good deal. The reduced width should help them bite better in the snow.

according to thegreatdane the spedo reads from the 5th gear of the tranny(manual) so the speedo does not change...i think its werid...but yeah..

i have 195-60-15 tires on my lx-i and i dont feel a diff it does not rub or anything. maybe when i lower it...thats why i have 205-50-15 tires for back up.

The speedo is driven by a gear on the differential. Changing tire size from stock will affect your reading. The speedometer assumes a tire size so it can estimate your speed based on the rate that the axles are rotating. A smaller tire will need to rotate faster to achieve the same ground speed.
