kicked out of 5th gear..and has never gone back in :P

well like the title says one day I was driving in 5th gear and it kicked out and from then on 5th gear has not worked..lol just wondering if u guys think this is bad or not? just as an added note, I have still been driving it...I have put 8000 km's on it since that happened this summer :D

did you check your fluid.....your syncros could be going bad.

Your synchro must be gone check your trans fluid level if its slow. If it doesnt need to be filled up then year your 5th gear is bye bye.

our 5 speeds are notorious for burning up 5th gear.
first thing, check the oil level. there is a chance you can save it. jack the passenger side up in the air, this way you can fill a little more oil.
second, if 5th gear doesn't come back, get a new tranny.

When it kicked out of 5th, did you hit a bump, hit the shift lever, or anything else. Were you driving at a constant speed? In other words, was there an event or did the thing just fly out?

When you try to shift into 5th, do you get the grinding of the gears noise? Can you get it into 5th when the car is at rest? If it goes in when stopped, then maybe it's just the sychronizers. You might be able to double-clutch into 5th.

LOL well we were just driving down the highway no bumps nothing it just popped out, and well u can put it in 5th gear at any time just nothing happens u can rev the engine or do whatever but it wont put any power to the wheels :P
