This is actually for another car of mine, a V6 Volvo. It's old and not worth very much, and has a leaky exhaust manifold gasket. The problem is, it's an
'85, and the probability of busting off a stud is pretty high, I think. If that happens, the clearance is really bad, and we might not be able to get enough to put in a new stud. Of course, once you start you're committed. Also, the noise is getting pretty bad.

I was wondering if anyone has ever had luck with taking a wedge of metal, and maybe hammering it into the place where the gasket has failed. Might not work completely, but maybe it would knock it back some.

are you sure it is a gasket and not something else?

i say spray that thing down with pb blaster or liquid wrench a week b4 you take it off. the cheap way would be to try to put some jbweld around the leak and hope it stops it.

You think JB Weld will stand up to the high temp of the manifold?
