How to test coil.

Is there a way to test my coil? My car starts and idles kinda funny and when i give it gas it dies. seems like it doesnt want to advance. I got a new dizzy cap and rotor. So now im thinking it could be the coil. Thanks.

oh yeah, since you done the vacuum removal you done the mechanical secondary right? does it only die when you floor it when it's cold? cause i think that would be letting too much air into the carb all at once or something (but then again you have a manual choke) but that's what happens with mine
