As most of us know, one of our newer members has been in a crash. Her car appears to be repairable, but it will need some work to get it repaired.
currently, the car looks like this:

personally, i think it could be repairable. if a few of us could get together, i think we could do a lot in the way of getting the car back on the road. even just a few hours of work could very well leave foxy with a drivable car. currently, that's what i'm hoping for.
the meet would have to be on a wednesday or a thursday. tools will be provided, but bring your own if you wish.
now who's in? i'm thinking in january, maybe the first week or second. is this ok for any of you guys? i know there's a higher concentration of member in the southern end of FL, but i don't keep track of who's actually active.
let's get foxy's 3gee on the road again!

I think it would be cheaper to get another $500 3gee sedan shell and just transfer all the good parts off that car over to it. I'm sure there are plenty of 3geez in that junkyard still in good shape. These cars are so easy to take apart compared to doing all that body work.

BTW, those aluminum drive shafts sitting on that blue truck look like a great find for someone with a truck!

If you had a body shop do that, it would probably be at least $2000 in repairs. Unless that specific car has some sentimental value or something, you'd be better off with a new car. I had the two doors hit on that side of my car, estimates were about $1700. I didn't even have the rear quarterpanel hit, the c-pillar damaged, or the door completely bent. Not to mention on that car the suspension, and possibly the subframe where the lower control arm attaches could be screwed too.

Fortunately for me my dad is an auto-body guy, but materials were still about $500. Not to mention all the labor involved (it's a LOT of work). If you know somebody who is a professional that would donate ther time, you'd be out a lot less money.

i would first just replace the suspension area, and worry about the rest some other day

when you get the car, take some pics of the suspension for us. i have a body that has a clean title, but has a minimal amount of rust and needs paint. it's otherwise a clean car. i'm sure your BF could get you a shell pretty easily, though.

This is FL, I'm sure you can find a good rust-free shell around here somewhere. I know I find them in my nearby junkyard all the time. Makes me tempted to get a whole new shell for my 3gee project, but the one I have now is good. Just haven't been working on it since I started my Civic project.

Well the car is here now I going to be getting more detailed pics. I was just getting ready to do it when I realized my camera was dead. I will do it tomorrow.

i don't think you car repair it without extensive work done to the body. i call it scrap yard. she can keep it as a parts car and get another accord.

actually about 8 hours in to it so far and it is almost done. I am going to take more pics of it on sunday before we get back on it. My b/f went to school for this stuff and 250 dollars in tools last night has made a big difference. The suspension work is done. did not need much I only spent 15 dollars on that shit

Yes but i'm sure to bodys bend! look like the c pillar and backend has some bends, think its gonna go in a bench so it can be lined up properly..
I would buy another one you know is straight...
(it more easy to) :0)

ok, it does in the pictures.. But in denmark they are completely brain dead with cars!! like its a fucking space shuttle... But i think i my mind the big bend i has is very tricky to make nice without tons of bondo... many curves and stuff. But still, i would think its bended in the body... looks like a nasty hit..

Foxy3GLXI

yeah I would get a new car but after everything like my insurance deductable and my rental car I really have nothing let to get another car right now. I am mad that she did not have any type of car insurance but I am going to be taking her to court for my injuries and my out of pocket expences for my physical therapy and last but not leat my 1000 $ deductable.

i have a DX that you can buy from me. it has some rust in a very fixable area, will need new paint, and will need the interior swapped. it's a decent shell, and i'm willing to let it go CHEAP.

odd thing i want to mention is that my 89 lx (which is white, by the way) has some slight suspension damage on that same corner. curbs suck. i just wish i would have known before i bought the car. it's crazy that i didn't notice because i was under the thing looking at the condition of the bushings.

the engine and trans won't be included, but you'll want to use your engine since you have an LXi, anyway. it'll save you some trouble.
the interior will be cleaned out. i'll supply the old dash for the VIN, since without that, you may run into trouble getting it titled in your name.
i have one fender that you can have, but it's in far from perfect shape.
the interior will include the door panels and the carpet. the LXi seats are more comfortable, and the DX seats have to be removed to do the conversion. the color is lovingly known as "shit brown," so i'd expect that you'd want to swap your whole maroon interior over when you do the EFI conversion.
i have a clean title in my name for the shell. i can provide a scan if you want.
since your BF works in a junkyard, we might be able to work out a trade for a bed for my nissan truck.

more pics in the next thread due to the asinine 10 pic limit.

This is possibly the greatest gathering of individuals I have ever seen. All of you are putting forth a great effort to help one of your own, whom none of you have ever met, nor in which have any vested intrest. I most ardently wish that I had known of this place when I had my DX a few years ago. I probably would not have sold it!

The DX was quite possibly the most visceral driving experience that I ever had. Computer control was limited to engine management unlike today's rolling microchips, the steering was properly weighted, all of the controls fell immediately to hand, the STOCK suspension was high-speed driver friendly, it was light, and the engine was strong. It was truly a visceral experience to run all the way up to redline, grab a gear and attack some back roads. It was not a FAST car but it was what VW and BMW advertized their machines to be: Truly a driver's machine. I have seen very few cars that can be had new that can do all that the third generation Honda Accord was capable.

I am overjoyed to see this community. Foxy and the rest of you, I hope you understand that this is not the norm. Helping someone else, offering time to a total stranger is a phenomenon quite unknown throughout the world. Hence through special labels these people have been called Good Samiritains. Foxy, I hope you get your new shell or that the old one is returned to its past glory. To everyone else, a most heartfelt thanks.

May the third generation Accord continue to outlive its design parameters!
