Was surfing Craigslist the other day. Both me an offthahook saw the same ad on Craigslist "PARTING OUT 84 ACCORD HATCHBACK, DIRT CHEAP!"

We had to jump on it, and this guy let me take pretty much anything I wanted from this car for $225. Joel (offthahook) and I went in on it and I headed up to Redmond to start gutting this thing.

The guy was really cool. Originally he was going to pull it in his garage, let me use the heat, and all the power tools. Turns out we had this little wind storm and like 1.5 million people lost power. So I had to do it outside in the cold with hand tools. I spent 7 hours pulling parts from this car. It was really fun, and I learned a lot about how all the stuff in my car comes apart. Got a boat load of parts, just about everything I could get from the interior, and exterior trim pieces.

The amount of parts that we got off of this car was incredible. For the price and experience you can't beat it. I've got a rear swaybar for my car now, yay! And I can fix my HVAC system so that it blows out the front vents, and fix my noisy blower motor. Got a speedo cable, took the red seats to put in my 1g hatch. Got the cruise control computer, it will be sweet to have that shit back. Plus an array of parts for Joel's hatchback, to help make it look even nicer than it already looks.

Anywho, enjoy the pics!

Keep in mind this was a complete car before I got to it.

Thank god my friend brought his RSX. Hatchbacks are like trucks with all the stuff they hold.

didnt you have aftermarket swaybars? anyways looks good...extra parts are always good to have.

I have an aftermarket swaybar for the front that will need slight modification to fit. If I can make this rear one work, then the aftermarket rear one should be much easier to fit since all the stock bracketry will be in place.

Yeah the 1g is getting fixed up so that I can take this thing out of comission for a while. The car will get dropped, suspension upgraded, brakes, engine, interior and bodywork will all commence after the 1g is complete.

Yeah, it was a sweet deal. Dude told John to come on down and get what you want. All you can eat buffet style. What was so choice about this particular Accord was the car was NOT all beat and no one had gone through it and jacked it up. Basically, the car was in nice shape, but had a blown head gasket as I recall. The interior looked better than any beater/parts cars I've seen. The working conditions didn't look fun, but you gotta get while the gettins good. That's what John and his guy did, and I can't wait to see the loot on my porch. Well, I can. There's a slim chance I'll get some more little stuff, but the owner won't get back with me. No biggie; we got a ton of parts and that car was on death row anyway. Glad it all worked out.

I know this... John and his friend should have to register as sex offenders for what they did to that car!!! That's how you get your money's worth.

Oh indeed. This car had a pretty nice interior. It wasn't all trashed like most cars. All moldy and dirty. Guy said grandma used to own the car. Those seats will look nice in the 1g. They're perfect, absolutely perfect. Will be a litle sportier. And the red matches quite well.

That's cool that the reds match up. I figured they would not because the 1G has a more wine colored red. You shoulda got the rear seat, too, for your 81 hatch. I don't how much modifying you would have to do to a 1G, but that was such a nice interior. But, your cars looked pretty full with what you did get! Man, I wish he would have gotten back to us. All in all, it was worth every penny and John could probably safely disassemble a 2G in his sleep!

Yeah the only thing that looks kinda funny is that there is vinyl on the original rear seats in the 81 and the front seats from the 84 are all cloth.

Problem is that I had no more room for anything else. Especially not the rears from that car... Would have been a nice modification to get those rear seats in, but I also thought that with all of the brackets, and where it snaps in at the top, I didn't really wanna spend a whole lotta time making that work. The back seats are in perfect shape anyways, so they'll do for a while.

Maybe now that Christmas is over I can find a weekend to start building that EK1 engine.

Another difference between the base and LX trims. The LX's got full cloth seats; the base got the sides of the seats in vinyl. Honda played this for a long time. I hate the vinyl on my 84 hatch seats! Vinyl interior panels will be cloth someday because I have my LX parts car and the parts you pulled. Nice.

I was just getting on the hiway last weekend in CT, and what should buzz by in traffic, but an '85 SE-i! First one I've seen, it seemed to be in pretty good shape, but I couldn't catch up because there were too many cars. I noticed that at about rocker-panel level was a horizontal stripe, with "SE-i" in script on it. Was this on the stock car?

It wasn't stock, but I bet they paid $200 for it to be there!

Script... eeew it looks so tacky on a car. Especially a boxy old 80's car.

I could see it on a 1g though.

heeheehee!...Sierra Classic!

Anyway my 2g had a really gay decal package with a bunch of fat black and grey lines, with a thin line that wandered all over in no particular direction. It was ugly and made no sense.

Thats exactly what it was. That guy was going to send it to the crusher anyways. Better to get what I can out of it before he does so.
