I was reading around and this question popped up in my head. Has anyone ever got a header (Pacesetter, D.C., w/e) and still used their stock exhaust system? Would there be any gains from this? I'm just curious.

yeah, me. i bought my dcs headers/hf cat/exhaust as a package deal. but the headers were a bit easier to put on than the exhaust and also i wasn't sure if i liked the muffler enough--how it looks and sounds--to put it on the car right away. so i put on just the headers, and yes, i did feel an improvement in power and i even got a slight gas mileage boost to boot. they'll give you gains over stock no matter what you run after it because they're made with better geometry and more performance oriented.

yeah HondaBoy had a Big ass thread on it...he even posted videos....and it looks that the car reved smoother with the headers on.

yeah, it does. smoother + faster. but in a nutshell, headers + stock exhaust = gains. header + exhaust system = bigger games. charge pipes + downpipe + turbo + fmic = biggest gains.

Thanks. I assumed it would improve power, but I was just wondering if anybody had actually done it. I know HondaBoy just got a header, but i believe he doesnt have the stock exhaust. Snoopyloopy, did the car sound any different with the D.C. header and stock exhaust compared to stock everything?

well, i had a sri already installed when i put on the headers. but the sound wasn't really that much different. it just blended out some harmonics. i don't know about the pacesetters, but with the dc sports, you can definitely tell that they're tuned to sound frequencies in their construction. but it doesn't really make your car louder, just a different sound.
