I have searched but not found answer. The weather seal between the taillight and the body of the car is cracked which causes water to get into my trunk. How do i fix this without spending $40+ on new seals?

if you wanna ghetto fix it, just get some cocking
if you wanna kinda ghetto fix it, get the gasket at the jy
if you really want to fix it good and not worry about it spent the 40$ on the new one

You can Do like I did
DUCT TAPE
lol j/k

I heard you can use silicone but use it from the seal to the lamp not to the body it promotes rust if you use the silicone to metal

Would it absorb moisture?

Yeah - if you get a closed cell pad it won't absorb moisture. I bought one a few weeks back as all my hondas leak at the tail lights. Trace the outline of the OEM gasket cut and place.
