ok so most of u know about my stereo in my car premier deck running a jl amp and jl wx1s sooo

sum thing is wrong my subs wont hit they only make a weird clicking sound and like a static fuzz sound

i looked at my amp and the protect light is on and the power light surges it seems at the same time the bass hits

any ideas??

the protect light is on becasue there was probably a power surge to the amp or something, so it shut the amp down. Maybe you should try resetting the amp buy taking out the fuse then putting it back in

also cheack for any cuts that might be grounding out anyt of the wire connected to the amp and subs

well thank god i have warranty cause im to lazy to fix it myself

so January 3rd they better be working again or im gonna kick them guys asses

ya ive gone like 4months now i cant wait till i decide what im getting lol
nithig fansy but just enough to define the bass line

well its been down for a week already and thank god i have rf punch speakers so i still have sumwhat bass lol

check the ground cables.... that happened to me. also check the polarity on the speakers just 4 sure.

dimming and protection are usually either:
bad ground
excessively low impedance (ohms) or a short circuit


you can test a bad ground by:
put a volt meter to +, the - to chassis ground, check voltage. You should have at least 12 V. next check the voltage to the amp's ground terminal. if it reads very low when the amp is on (less than 10V) it's a bad ground


to check the load impedance, try hookingup just 1 sub and see if the amp accepts it. most amps can't handle less than 4 ohms bridged

yeah i turn too fast once and the ground cable came lose....ima check my grounds with my DMM thanks for the tip eric.....btw where is the best place to ground an amp?
