get a timing light and set the dizzy to advance....or you can jump a few teeth on the timing belt.

you are half way right.
you can get timing light and turn distributor just a little to advance it. don't advance it too much or your car can start pinning.

jumping a tooth or a few teeth is not recommended. every tooth you jump would advance your timing a lot and it is very bad for the engine unless you have custom camshaft. But even then it can be dangerous.

Turn the distributor up, it advances the timing. Turn it down, it retards the timing.

you asked us how to advance it. What did you expect, little push button.
Our cars are not like any other hondas. You have to know to do shit to get the results. If you want one of those cars that have a lot of aftermarket support, get CIVIC or newer ACCORD.

shepherd79 is right. Not only jumping a tooth is dangerous but it changes CAM timing, not only ignition timing.

Advancing timing is like any other OBD0 Honda, it's done with the distributor.

How much "advance" can you squeeze out before you start to melt the pistions?

If your car runs good leave it alone.

Honda's are pretty sensitive to detenation. With premeium fuel you can jump it up some. Just listen to the ping.

is that a dirty Dodge in your sig?

When you bump the timing, make sure you do a full load run, up a hill or something that loads it. As you may bump it and it will run fine at idle or even at 6000rpm, under no load, but when you actually load it down it may detonate and cause molten aluminum.

a few teeth? no way...

one tooth advances the cam timing, not just ignition.

one tooth is equal to

8.571428571429 degrees.

even with adjustable cam gears , most only turn it +/- 5 degrees

loosen the 3 bolts and rotate the distributor body... it's not like other motors where you can rotate just the distributor cap.
