Here's some photos I took today of some Accords in town:

This 1g is taunts me every day. I drive by it on my way to work and look at it and know that I'll never be able to get parts off of it. I'm guessing it's a 79. It's got the older style tails, grille, and bumper bar thingy. That makes it not an 80 or 81...but it's also an LX making it not a 76-78 if I'm correct...

This 2g is in town off a road that is also on my way to work. I can't see it as its parked way back down the road. It's for sale on Craigslist, and Joel (offthahook) and I are trying to get the owner to let us take more parts off of it. It's exactly like the one I got to completely gut a couple weeks ago.

These photos I did not take, but found while doing a Google image search. Very neat photos, they look old, like when the car was a lot younger.

That 1G is that close to a main road? Man, I'd think someone would mess with it, but it looked like it was well taken care of. Damnit! Those old school pics. were sweet! Back then, those cars were so hawt. So "foreign" to most people. Jap crap with no torque. Nice to see years later that the Honda and Toyota dealerships are cramped because they are so busy. A lot of the "foreign" dealers here have added on or totally relocated their stores due to space issues. The domestics dealers are stagnant and look like it's 1975 all over again. And the same people who bitched back then drive Hondas and Toyotas and think the older stuff is kinda cool-- now. Pics. were cool as always, even if you didn't snap them!

EDIT-- Dude I just noticed he said the 2 passenger side wheels and the system were stolen out of it... BUT, the pics you shot don't show any missing wheels?? The system was a bitch to remove from these cars, too. Who would want it, unless they stole it 15 years ago. I know I saw what I saw and I doubt he replaced the missing wheels setup. I think I got the right ad. from CL.

I think this is the ad-- http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/car/253017575.html

I gotta admit, the more I look at the 82-83's, the more and more I like how they look. Especially that red one in those photos... Makes me want one of those too...

they sorta grow on ya, esp. the front end, it looks aggro yet clean.

I'm definitely biased since I had a red '82 hatch too, but it's crazy to me how much better the 82-83 looked than 84-85. I think that red color really makes the lines at the front of the car stand out much better, and the turn signals blend in a little bit so theres not so much awkward contrast between the fenders/bumpers. I like the smaller taillights better too.

Silver is my favorite on the 1st gen (had one of those too), and the gunmetal gray color on the 2.5 (mine was red, not too hot).

well, with the 2.5g, you can swap an A20A easily.

You guys should just buy another 2g and restore it instead of gutting all those cars for spare parts you'll never use :p

Too many maroon hatches out there. Must be nice. I haven't seen 2 hatches this way in years!!

I'm restoring mine in a way... It's tight the way it stands, but I'm "LX"ing it out with used parts. I'm also getting some interior painting skills at the same time. I'll use a lot of those parts and I have a motto...

"Better to have a part and not need it than need a part and not have it." After doing the cruise and some other stuff, I found out it is hard to find parts for these old cars when you actually need them! Plus, Honda has DC'd everything and new parts are SO expensive. I just think of all those decent 2G Accords going for scrap and I just go nuts. Plus, John can now safely disassemble his 2G in his sleep! It's like the first hit of crack when I find these old Accords in decent shape!!

Yeah that first one I gutted was definitely a hit of crack. I'm having withdrawls waiting for the next one...

When I go to bed it's like that scene from Trainspotting. When the guy spends like 2 weeks in his room with fuckin hallucinations of babies crawling across the ceiling and shit. Except, I see little Accords driving around the walls, 1g's and 2g's. And they honk thier horns all night long taunting me, keeping me awake because they're just out of my reach...

Nice. I'm more of a Requiem for a Dream type for my addictions movie, but I remember seeing Trainspotting. I just hate to think of all the "good" things that get wasted when a vehicle (any vehicle that someone needs cheap parts for) is junked. Back in the day it was free reign on the Hondas at the salvage yard because no one fixed them up and there was no Internet. Now, everyone knows new Honda stuff is mad $$$ and there are tons of people fixing them up. Mostly the 90 and up Hondas, but the guys at the yard know not to just let you out there like they did back then.

Nothing like seeing a decent old Honda looking like it is homeless! They taunt me, too. Plus, I hardly ever see them anymore. I saw a 2G today parked outside Conseco Fieldhouse where the Pacers play. White LX, 84 or 85. Looked pretty good. I wish I could map my joint and have some old Hondas within a few miles. Man, I gotta stop talking about it cuz I'm feenin'...
