View Full Version : Rough Life

My poor LXi has had a rough life so far ... hopefully, it'll get better soon.

It's been hit on the front driver corner and was professionally repaired (poorly):Owned: .

When I got her, she was missing screws and bolts, and the front corner light was held in by the wiring. The hood, fender, bumper, and headlights are still poorly aligned, and the whole car was "touched up", but they didn't tape stuff off well, so it's got overspray all over the place. I'm workin' on it all whenever I get the time, money, and parts together in one spot.

At the moment, everything works except the top half of the rear defrost, her interior has no rips, tears, or stains, and nothing leaks.

Thanks! It's tough to do with a wife, 2 kids, 3 dogs, and a full time job. Everyone always needs something done right away, or somebody needs cash, or something, so it's slow going.

He he Thanks. She's not so much a beast as such. She's more like a well tamed hound.

She's reliable and steady, decent looking to the people that appreciate this breed, and she's still got a little growl in her soul when I wanna get down.

I got it just over a year ago. I've had some time to iron out a few of those "wrinkles".

Steam cleaned the interior, and engine bay, and replaced a couple of the fubar'ed wheels, etc, etc, ...

Latest update ...

Got my billet shifter handle installed (had to hand carve an oak button for the top out of an old old broom handle).

Got my teg lip installed.

Also got a set of 14" beemer bottle cap wheels with old skool honda center caps. They look just different enough to be noticable, but aint nobody gonna steal my car just to get my wheels! ;)

Updated pics coming soon. I got some during the lip install.

Easy teg lip install

Step one - remove the headlight trim and the front side marker lights.

Step two - pull out the fog light hole covers, and use a phillips head screwdriver to remove the front turn signals from below.

Step three - remove the two bolts under the car (marked as arrow 1)

Step four - remove 2 bolts from each side behind where the turn sgnals were mounted (marked as arrow 2)

http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p248/666Bones666/Removal.jpg

Step five - gently pull the bumper forward and off the car.

http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p248/666Bones666/BumperOff1.jpg

Step six - bolt the new lip into place.

http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p248/666Bones666/LipMounting2.jpg

Step seven - reassemble in the reverse order that eveything was taken apart.

I gotta get new bumper mounts next. The one on the driver side is sagging bad. That was the best I could do to get it lined up when I was reinstalling everything.

It dont help that the front is tweaked from an accident from before I got the car.

Pico
04-28-2007, 09:34 PM
why did you take the headlight trim off?

Bones
04-28-2007, 10:01 PM
It's easier to get the front side markers off with the headlight trim outa the way.

New pics! I've already removed the purple fog lights though. They just didn't look right.

Gotta get some drop on one day.

Got them Beemer wheels for $40 for the set!
http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p248/666Bones666/Front_Drv.jpg

My wife says the new muffler must be a tank cannon stickin' out from under the car because she thinks it sounds like an old army tank when I start it up! ;-)
http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p248/666Bones666/Back_Pax.jpg

I gotta get them rusted spots fixed properly, and soon!

I love my new arm and head rests in there.

Too bright for a clear pic of the new shifter, but y'all get the idea.

the wheels look good, i just think the spoiler looks outta place. What is it off of?

Bones
05-04-2007, 08:40 PM
It's an aftermarket spoiler I got off a junkyard Sunbird for $15 if I recall correctly.

I've never been able to find a junked accord with a wing, or I'd have that instead. It's the closest I've been able to find to a sorta stock looking wing so far.

I did find a 2g SEi with a trunk mounted luggage rack once though. The back edge was raised a bit and kinda curved to a spoiler sorta shape, but aint no way I was gonna mount a luggage rack to my car, no matter what it resembled!

I installed silicone vacuum tubing and grounded the engine all over the place this past weekend. It's got a 2 guage cable for the main ground to the battery and a blue 4 guage Ebay kit for the rest of the engine. I didn't do the vacuum box on the passenger side with the silicone though. Too much stuff in there to mess with for now.

The new ground wires and fresh vacuum hoses make quite a difference in the engine bay appearance, and driving feel. Acceleration feels more responsive, the idle is smoother, and the cruise control no longer wanders up and down plus or minus 5 mph when it's set.

Now I need to get or build a cold air intake.

Here's pics from 3 views.

Bump

Posted the pics of the new silicone vacuum tubing and the new ground wires above.

I've also found a genuine Honda sunroof visor recently as well. It cost me a whoppin' $5 at the local bone yard!
http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p248/666Bones666/BeforeDrop1.jpg

My new muffler is a bit low. I'm gonna have to get that fixed before the drop is installed.

The front doesn't sag at the moment, even with the busted spring on this front corner.
