Edit- On high performance engines, cylinder walk causes irregular deck surfaces on 'open' deck blocks. I was thinking it was a machining issue though.

Isn't it where a cylinder is bored and it is no longer concentric to it's original location?

somebody find that picture where the crank is walking down the driveway LOL. isn't that where one of these ricers puts a 500 NOs shot on their civic and one of the floating cylinders goes rolling down the road?

The only thing I can think of is open deck motors like some Hondas might have problems with the cylinder walking around like under boost conditions.

Now cap walk meaning Main bearing caps can walk a little and let the crank move around. Happens at power levels over stock or like a big heavy clutch pressures.

if your cylinder can move side to side you have a major problem.
first, your rings worn out to the point of nothing.
second, if the engine is new, pistons are wrong size. or if the engine is old the cylinders walls worn out.

the other thing you probably thinking is the common problem with open deck where cylinder walls expand under high pressure. BUT it is only common on high performance open deck engines if they are not sleeved.
