You better give us one hell of a photoshoot.
The car runs great I just got back from taking her on a short test run. I'm gonna have fun driving her now especially after I break in the engine and trans. I still have to adjust the clutch a little bit more and get used to driving a stick, but it's all good.
One thing I noticed since I went to a smaller diameter on my CAI it seems alot louder. My CAI before was 3in the new one is 2.5in do you think thats why the sound difference or is it just me since I havent driven the 3G in 3months.
Oh well I will try to get some video's and pictures up this weekend after I do a little more fine tuning :D

I didn't need to adjust my clutch after i replaced it. Only thing that changed was that it went from grabbing 1/8th out to 1/4th way out. The free play didn't change. Anyways what clutch did you put in?

hmm it could be that you just haven't heard it in 3mo hehe or.. since your new cai is practically a straight pipe, it's not diminished by the turns as much. maybe also cause you got the engine bored out a lil? i dunno.. I like the sound of my cai it's quiet while cruising but has a nice clean sound while accelerating
Yes.
And wouldn't it be kinda hard to see there?
I did a test fit and the angle is just right, but I wanted to get opinions before I install it there and you're right I not going to put it there.

does it feel like it accelerates faster? and yes i believe that your cai being smaller would change the way it sounds. instead of being low tone its rapid air flow meaning louder, but cooler :D
and dont mount your other guage on the other pillar...it would look too funny lol, i would, if anything, mount them on the dash facing you.
does it feel like it accelerates faster?
It does, I held back yesterday I really wanted to stomp on it, but I'll give it a few more 100 miles or so before I do.

what brand/size are the fans? did you have to modify anything to mount them?
12in Hayden fans, 2 things I had to do was cut the plug off the original harness and wire them in and reverse the fans so that they suck the air in thru the radiator.
Only took like 45min to do everything
Strugglebucket
06-03-2007, 08:32 PM
so the mounts work with the stock bolt locations?
I used the mounts that came with the fans, the ones that push thru the radiator fins.
The model number on the fans is 3680

Nice work Pico. It is a good testimony for the headers, the difference is realy subtle until you add other mods then you can tell you spent the money well. In youre case you had some mods then added the header and BOOM yeah baby...

I dynoed mine and I only got 142 whp with one almost dead cylinder and slipping clutch! I had alot of deposits from running rich and a couple of bad guides. I compression tested after and found out my #1 cyl was only putting 90 psi while the rest where at about 150 psi. I'd like to go back before the turbo since my cylinder head was refreshed after that. if they make me a deal I'll try and get it done. it be nice to see what a nicely modded a20 will do.
Let me tell you pico this thread is amazing! I love the way you went over everything. Everything must work so nice. All you need now is a nice cam with a b16 mani and 62mm tb and youll be good to go. oh and obd1 with a chipped ecu. ;) well the smog refs might not like that though. scratch that idea. (unless you get a good tuner that can dial it in for smog!;) )

howd you break the motor in? Did you change the oil already? Is the clutch broken in? Hows it feel and how many miles on it already?
Thanks for the compliments guaynabo89
To be honest the motor is still not broken in(to me it's not) I've put in less than 2000 miles on it and I've only done 2 oil changes, as far as my trans when my buddies shop rebuilt it they think they might of overlooked a bad syncro, I get a little grind between 1st and 2nd. Im going to try some syncromesh fluid for now and see if that helps.
Other than that she runs great and I do want to go OBD1 and I planning on doing before next summer if all goes well
Just got back to this thread. Seems like your already awesome car just got a litle bit more awesome.

On the grinding part, is your clutch adjusted correctly? Don't that is the problem but i'd check it.

Looking good there pico.
I would think they are slightly lighter thank stock. My cam gear is made with the toothed steel part of the stocker with the adjustable aluminum piece in the middle and it weighs the same. Now being the golden eagle ones are full alum they should free up some weight.
I've swapped out cams many of times and just mark the belt to the gear slide off the tbelt and slide back on, tension it back up. Spin the engine once and use the TDC mark on the flywheel to make sure my cam is sitting at TDC when it comes back around. If its not at tdc then I know I have to move the belt a tooth.
