that just shortens the rod not the through right

Pico
05-09-2009, 10:03 AM
that just shortens the rod not the through right

I think since the angle of the rod is cut down and rewelded in place the throw will be different also. where if you just cut the shifter shorter and rethread the shaft for the knob the throw would be the same.
Does that sound right?

Joay
05-09-2009, 10:06 AM
Considering the elbow and pivot look to be in the same place, how is that any different from just cutting down the shifter and rethreading it?
Still shortens the throw slightly but that's not what everyone thinks of as a short shifter.

Thats what im not sure about, you guys are possibly correct, and if there is no difference at least my shift rod will sit lower and feel better when shifting IMO

Pico

Just came back from a short drive, there is a difference in shifting and the way the shifter sits is way better than stock height.
I'm real happy with it. (I need to clean the dust out of interior)

the shifter has a shorter throw, it can be modified again to accommodate what you guy's are all saying also.
I am happy with my shifter and i feel it does me right even at the drag strip.

Pico are you truly happy with what you got and did i mislead you in any way?

I ended up using Krylon Fusion paint this 2nd time around. I've used it before on other pieces and it's worked great.
My wife painted the dash over 2 years ago with some generic paint we had laying around and it held up real well, but was a little too shiny for me. Thats the only reason why I decided to redo it with a satin finish this time, besides it's perfect weather here in Vallejo today for painting.

went over it with a Scuff pad lightly, and gave it 2 coats total.
I spent more time last nite putting it back in,just so the wires would be neatly tucked up under the dash

the original plan was to build a work/shed booth on the side of the house when we first moved in, but we changed our minds on that for the time.
We were going to use the garage to paint my car, but the fumes alone from painting just the bumper is still lingering around.
I now have a spray booth that I can rent next to my friends shop for 150.00 for a weekend, so thats were we will be painting the car at

Update
Well It's time for me to go a different direction with the car. I'm putting her away for awhile until I decide what to do with her. I'm slowly losing interest in the car and torn between getting motivated enough to finish her up or just getting rid of her. I just dont have the time and money to do the things I want with the car. So for now I have taken the insurance off and not registered the car, I'll store her on the side of the house for now and hopefully in the future I'll get back on the car.
Thanks to everyone on here for the inspiration and input thru these past few years.
I'll still be around and wont be going nowhere.
Thanks Again Everyone

I'm slowly losing interest in the car and torn between getting motivated enough to finish her up or just getting rid of her. I just dont have the time and money to do the things I want with the car. So for now I have taken the insurance off and not registered the car, I'll store her on the side of the house for now and hopefully in the future I'll get back on the car.
Thanks to everyone on here for the inspiration and input thru these past few years.
I'll still be around and wont be going nowhere.
Thanks Again Everyone

Well It's time for me to go a different direction with the car. I'm putting her away for awhile until I decide what to do with her. aw man.

nah dont worry. The break will do you go and youll start getting ideas and come refreshed with what you want.

One word of advice though. I dont know how insurance are in Cali but when I used to put my car away for the winter I just changed my insurance to just theft/vandalism. It only cost a couple of dollars a month plus it was always good for piece of mind. There used to be alot of thieves where I used to live and even though it stayed locked in a detached garage right behin my house I thought the extra coverage was necessary.

ANyway. Now its time to start making the big plans. :D

How are you doing roodoo?
Im trying my best to keep this car on the road, Finally got her smogged and registered after sitting for 8 months.
Lots of plans hopefully in the very near future.

I was reading up on Legend Master's write up on this and realized that since I'm back at my old job at the parts warehouse and I'm the purchasing agent
that I could do this.
So the rotors I ordered are standard rotors for a 88 Legend with the Hubs redrilled to 4 X 100 bolt pattern. The tech at the company I deal with told me to also look at the rotors that come off of a VW Corrado G60 and that they would fit, but I went ahead with the Legend rotors.
I'll should have the rotors next week.
Here's a Pic of the Type-R Calipers that I got from work and the link to

Looking good Roger! Keep up the good work. Those little Odyssey batteries are awesome... I got a PC925 last year and it was great... Just need to figure out how I am mounting it now.

Did you clear coat that aluminum or polish it at all? Otherwise it will just corrode and become unsightly.. then again you live in cali so never mind!

Pico

I picked up the mount on eBay it was $39.00, the battery I purchased thru my work and I paid $129.00 for it.

dam thats not bad... but how much do you think it would be for someone who cant buy it through work? cuz ive gone through 2 cheap autozone batteries cuz they are small but they fry out very easily. and now i realize the money i spent on those two batteries i could have bought one like yours. but do you have the model number and all of that info so i could go searching for one? cuz ive wasted to much money, time and break downs to go get another battery and then have to go back 2 months later.

this link should take you to a pic of why i need a small battery

Pico, take off your rotor and paint the portion of the hub where it usually rusts. Would look a lot better, but looks good so far!

most of the pics have broken links in the early pages

Pico
06-16-2010, 06:42 AM
I moved the pics around in my photobucket acct and forgot to correct the links. On another note, the car has developed a real bad short somewhere. Battery drain and now when I turn in the defroster, lights or anything that draws power the lights dim and the stereo cuts off. I'm going to post another thread on some help later when I get the chance.
