Since im going turbo i was wondering what clutch i should use. Im guessing that i will be putting out 250-300HP. What are your suggestions and what do they cost?

Stock flywheel

since you are going to have stock flywheel, get the strongest clutch available. I think it is six pack. it should hold up to all your power.

Be careful with racing clutches though, they will wear out fast...

i got the 6 puck with red pressure plate -- haven't had the time to install them though since i've been moving and working a whole bunch. but it's what seemed to be the best for turbo apps and that's my plan as well. i would get it -- it was highly recommended

When are you installing yours, and what type of power are you putting down?

Clutchnet are the best but still get your flywheel lightened or an Ally one, i've got a red pressure plate and a kevlar Disk solid hub. I would have thought the Ceramic might wear out quite quickly i'd look at something a little less agressive if your planning on 300bhp or less. Also don't forget the gearbox with anymore than 150bhp they need uprated diff bearings, new syncros and general overhaul while it's apart probably wouldn't be a bad thing.

where can i get the bearings and syncros? What clutch.pressure plate so you suggest?

yeah...but it only helps you out of the hole...but not like high speed driving.

yes, it still does. hitting boost faster = going faster. and with ten odd pounds less on the crankshaft for the engine to spin, it helps your acceleration no matter how fast you're going when you gas it.

oops...i forgot he was going turbo....well for NA...my friend would race buggies...and he said people would lighten the flywheel and they only took off faster but never got alot of high speed out of it...and he would pass em up after a while

they showed you what clutch and pressure plate to get.
as far as making your tranny stronger. well, there aren't any stronger parts for them, so just rebuild or use what you have.

well yeah, a lightened flywheel reduces the amount of mass for the crank to rotate, so it allows quicker revving of the engine. but it doesn't really increase the top end all that much as compared to other mods. and if i'm not mistaken, you lose a little bit of torque w/ the lighter wheel too. but the quicker take-off comes from the ability of the engine to rev faster.

MessyHonda

yeah you could also lose lots of power since when you shave some weight you will lose the rotational inersia....but it should not affect alot.

there are + and - to lighter flywheel.
+ : faster reving engine, better top end,
- : on the turbo engines the rpm would drop too quickly. you need heavy flywheel to keep the engine RPM happy for the turbo.

agree with shepherd... lightened flywheels are good but so are quick trans timings... neither of which are all too great for turbo apps. but i still have my red pressure plate and six puck sprung hub up for sale if you want it lilxoxbit. you never responded back after my last pm so i didn't know if that was a no or maybe you thought the price was to high. either way shoot me a pm and we can talk about it.

you could always have custom gears/shift forks/the little drum inside the tranny cut out of a stronger material
