What up my name is Mike, and I will soon be the proud owner of a 1985 Accord Hatchback 5-spd 1.8L...I will be asking all of your fellow owners for some advice, because this is my first Honda...my previous cars were a 01 Mitsubishi Galant and a 99 Mazda 626. This car only has 84,000 miles on it and is in mint condition. I'll have pics up as soon as i get the car next week.

Since I'm new to the whole Honda thing...i've been reading that my car is a 2nd gen accord, but when i search for the car on websites, it mentions it as a 3rd gen accord...can someone answer this?

By the way thanks cheese...your avatar makes me hungry

something along those lines, 2ndGenGuy would know though.. i think the 82 - 83's are the 1st 2geez and the 84 - 85 is the 2.5geez? 2ndgenguy would confirm it, he is the 2geez whore :P

but if your car has pop-ups its a 3gee if it dont it's a 2gee :P

Welcome!

Head over to the 2nd gen forum and check it out, there's some good info, and we're working on getting more.

Welcome. If your car was meant to be sold in the U.S. market in 1985, then it is a 2nd Gen. The reason you may find that some 3rd gens are 85's is because the 3rd gens came out in Japan in 1985, one year before the rest of the world. Thats pretty much how it is with most Japanese cars (japan gets them 1 year before us).

well he said he has a 1.8L so i'm guessing it's a 2nd gen :)

so is there anyway to tell if you car was made in japan or the usa...for example on my galant, we could tell if was fed spec or cali spec by looking at the intake manifold..or does it just plainly say made in ...

yeah check the VIN...if it starts with a J it was made in japan and 1 or 2 it was made in the USA
