I have had a hole near the Cat. for a while now and am thinking of heading down to midas and having it replaced. I'm tired of that nasty ricey noise and the horrible smell that gets in the car.

How much money should I expect to be under? Anyone know?

I just want to know.

Thanks!

If this is what is broken:

Then the part itself costs about $120 and its difficult to say how much installation will be. You can get exhaust parts online at places like rockauto.com This piece is called a header pipe. A cheaper way of fixing it if only the flexible section is broken is to have a shop weld in a new flex pipe but leave the rest of the piping alone. This way depends on the condition of the other pipes though since rusted out pipes aren't good for welding anything to. HTH

2" piping and $500? that is rip off.
It is hard to tell you what they will charge you. But in the past, anywhere from $300 to 450 for 2.25" from cat all the way back.

If you just want to replace the downpipe, you can buy it and do it yourself.

i paid $400 for a complete exhaust from the downpipe back, including the cat. woulda only been $300 but i opted for a stainless hi-flow muffler.

Thanks to everyone for responding. Got my pipe and muffler, from just behind the cat all the way to the back. Sounded so scary on the way home. I didn't even know if my engine was on or not. So awesome.
