These were taken today just after it was polished, tyres slicked & trim blackened. Looks pretty good but not mint by a long way. All basically to original spec except the alloys & also the seats which are from an Executive model.

Lots of little jobs to do, ie. sort a few bits of rust, new windscreen & trims, sort the paintwork - as you'll see a few areas are the wrong shade. I've got new Konis coming soon, need to figure out what I'm gonna do with the wheels (non-PAS steering is too heavy) and my apologies for the interior as its not exactly the cleanest. I'm fussy.

I changed the ignition wires today with a set bought from the US & its made a big difference (I think) to the way it runs. Seems smoother & less liable to cutting out at low revs like it was doing before. I got new plugs, cap & rotor arm too but the parts I fitted a few years ago look like new so left them alone.

Man nice! Your 2g is gorgeous. It's good to have fussy 2g owners on the forum. Thats how we should all be with our old cars! :) I like that color, we didn't get that over here for some reason. Love the front end on the 82-83's.

looks really close to the 84 from fenders back... crazy, I really wish I could get and adapt some single style headlights like that for my 84, looks damn sexy!

Thanks for the comments !

No plans for it other than whats already been said & I want to try & drive it more this year. Can't change (& wouldn't want to!) for a 5spd manual as I've got a dodgy left knee which gives some discomfort when using the clutch. My daily car is a manual & thats getting sold partly due to this.

Would like PAS fitted so may see about this in time.

There's a 12,000 mile (you read right) car the same as mine the other end of the country thats been offered to me for free, but its a long way away & transporting it up would be a challenge & $$$. Its rusted out but is 1 owner with presumably lots of good bits on it. We shall see.

What are the red lights in the rear bumper for? Also, your front quarterlights seem to have a bulge in them. Is this for UK DOT specs? I like the rims.

The red lights on the rear bumper are UK Spec Fog Lights.

And the budge is also related to JDM/UK Specs

CLEAN Car!

Oh my god that looks incredible, great choice on the wheels. If it wasn't for the respray on the rear door that looks like it could've been delivered from a Honda factory last week.

Rockcord - The 84-85 sedans had one piece headlights too, but I guess they're not interchangeable with the 82-83. Should see if anybody on here could find you a set.

My dad gave me this car in 1998 IIRC (he got it in 1989!) and it was the first car I drove when I got my licence (UK spelling!). My dad was less than impressed that I clocked up 20k miles in my first year of driving (I kinda regret it too, now!) would otherwise have been 70k+ miles instead of whats on it (90k).

Its a shame about the dodgy paintwork, less than impressed when I got it back from the paintshop. I had had enough of the time the job took (5 years ago now) & just wanted it back on the road. Will get it sorted soon I hope, as I'd like to show the car but not the way its looking just now.

The alloys came off a 3g Prelude (1990 model anyway?) and had good tyres so put them on. It used to have 14" steels with plastic trims & that didn't look the best.

The engine is all original & has never been apart, looks tiny in comparison to the amount of room in the engine bay. The air filter case & radiator needs repainted (original colour, LOL) , hence I've not included a photo with the bonnet up. There is a slight knock from the rocker shaft that comes & goes but otherwise its never required anything & uses no oil or water. The rear engine mount needs replaced (got one from Honda) & thats about it.

The roads here are all salted so it won't be out for a couple of months yet.

Roll on the summer! :)

Man, that thing is freaking hawt. Looks like it was encased in a tomb, then pulled out after 20 years. Tighten up that paintwork and it'll better than new.

Just use some middle-grade, or premium grade gasoline and you'll be good. :)

I use an octane booster at every fill up & premium unleaded. The car was set up for leaded originally but they outlawed that some years ago. Seems to run fine with the exception of the worn rocker shaft - a known problem caused by oil starvation at the top end & possibly a throw back to the years of stop-start town driving it endured when my father owned it.

The whether is still abismal here so its still not been out the garage yet, but first off will be a full service soon I think. Oh yeah & a cambelt change!

You sure it's not just in need of a valve adjustment? Should be done every 30,000 or every so many months... I believe.

Valves were checked a couple of years ago & it did make a difference though its still not 100%

I think one tappet might stick occasionally & I was gonna try an oil flush to see if that helps then maybe an upper cylinder lubricant or whatever they do for these things.

Right... the performance of this car is pretty rubbish in my opinion. Is it fair to say thats what I should expect from a 1.6 Hondamatic??? Everything on the car is in good order with the exception of the top end & a service is due soon aswell as already said before.

Performance of my car is rubbish too. I think your car and mine have about comparable power. Mine is a 1.8, but I think the CVCC system takes some power away... I woudln't take a sign of the car being slow as anything bad. It's just how they are.
