(i'll also put the pix for the how-to in this thread hence the title)
showed up at the jy this morning a little late. but boy am i glad i went. i was trotting through the import section and i see a leather seat on the ground near a white coupe. so i go over, and it has leather inside, an armrest (ripped) and cupholders. so my curiosity is peaked, i knock off the rear wheels and there looking back at me were a set of disk brakes. kinda rusty, but maybe a rebuild might do the trick along w/ some new rotors. but on a side note, either this was a well-appointed car from the factory, it had an se-i swap, or someone rebadged their se-i as an lx-i.
now for those pix:

damnit. i could've saved like $50-$100 then. but i wasn't sure what all was needed. oh well. it is easier to just grab all of it. the girl at the window was going crazy trying to figure out what was all there so they wouldn't undercharge me.

edit: by the way, i'm going to rebuild the calipers since they look like a spider's nest. are these good rebuild kits?

i would go with the bigger caliper....look at legends thread i think the caliper is from the 1st gen legend...my calipers almost look brand new but i will have to take em apart since my disks are drilled and sloted and you can hear them grabing but when i let go off the break its a minior drag......some lube should help it.

You don't need those arms, but you do need the bracket that attaches the trailing arm to the hub. It makes the swap much easier if you grab the whole trailing arm.

yeah i know it makes it easier....but i think i broke the arm or it was broken or something when me and acidx were trying to take the rear disks off.

they are powdercoated, they turned out a bit flat but I like the color I tried to get as close to brembo gold as I could,I was gonna repaint them to match my spoon calipers but I sold them,I spent a little too much cash and forgot about bills lol

i'll check it out. i might start out w/ these and upgrade to those later, though. especially since i probably won't touch the front brakes yet so i don't want the backs too powerful yet. and yeah, i think i'll end up going with dimpled/slotted disks all around and aem pads. so i'll probably take these stockers off and vend them.

make sure you get the rear knucle complete with caliper soft brake caliper line along with the hard brake line it gets atached to begind the knucle. thats all. well ebrake cable of course.

you might need the master cylinder.

I dont know if the hatch got the same as sedans so you might need it.

it's not that people won't pay for them, it's just that they won't pay for the shipping. that'll probably be more than the brakes themselves.

I am running the LX MC and SE-i rear discs with the SE-i prop valve and LX front brakes and no problems at all.

I did swap the master cylinders but mine is a 87. the 86-87 and 88-89 dx lx have the smaller caliper rotor combo. The master cylinder on all those have a smaller diameter prop valve than the 88-89 lxi sei.

So if your front brakes came stock with the smaller caliper rotor combo than you need to swap it out.

you can use the lx master cylinder and work just fine it just wont push as much fluid as it needs to for the larger piston calipers. it will mayube just take a little more pedal tavel to do the same with the large diameter mc. but if you are still running the lx ca;ipers up front that might be why havent really noticed a difference.

thanks pico for clarifying the 88-89 lxi sei being the same. I couldnt remeber off the top of my head.

well, i've heard the mc is the same, but the prop valve is still different.

I will say it again-it does not make a difference in pedal feel what so ever-I have used a dx/lx-i/se-i/lude prop valve and it never felt any different at all-its not worth the time imo

I have an LX, and with the SE-i prop valve the pedal does feel different. It is much smoother and firmer than it was before.
