the original color of my 88 was grey, which i thought looked nice. In 2005, i've had lots of bad luck with my 88, first started off by my drivers handle breaking off, then my driver door being smashed in a hit and run, then while it was parked at residence, an 18 wheeler rolled across a 4 lane highway at idle speed, hoped the curb and hit out of all cars, mine! I got 300 american from the driver. A week later, i rear ended a truck causing no damage to the truck, but further damagin my front end. I needed a new hood, new front fenders, light assemblies, bumper, rad, and had to spend alot of my time bending the frame back to its original spot. The car still drives with no alignment problems and straight as an arrow. After all this was replaced, my car consisted of 7 colors since all the parts were replaced by parts at the wrecking yards. I decided to paint my car black but i only had 50 bucks left from the 300 that the truck driver gave me. So i decided to make a lil trip out to Canadian Tire (yes, im from canada) and pick up 11 cans of the cheapest glossy rust paint, which only came in black. After the paint job i was still 10 bucks ahead. So heres the pics of my rather nice paintjob for 33 bucks.

It was preped all round with the standard 240 then 320 grit. 240 was to get the stock clear off, and 320 was to get a nicer, smoother surface. I just didnt want to drive around an old car with 7 different colors on it, so thats y i didnt bother adding clear.

I just dont have door moldings that dont have rusted out end bolts on that side of the car, nor can i find any. Up here in Canada, we use alot of salt on the roads in the winter, so any car like this is all rotted out, very hard to find a car this old without rust. Luckly im the second owner on this car and the first owner was my uncle, which undercoated it twice a year and rarely winter drove it. Thanks for all the postive feedback guys

Nice! I agree with everyone else though, add a wetsand and a clearcoat and it'll look really good.

u dont need to wet sand it... that ould prolly eat through it...

go over it with a buff wheel... it will make it shine and the paint will last 10X longer if u keep on doing so

NOICE!
