I always wanted a volt meter in my car, just so i know how the alt and the batt are. So i bought a simple Sunpro one for right now, then when it gives out i will upgrade. I tapped it into the antenna switch wire. The switch has a negative and a positive so i used those since the switch is 12V. I also wired up the light for the gauge to the cigarette lighter bulb so it turns on when the lights are on, and not on full time.

If you are going to splice into the cig lighter light, the easiest way to get the bulb out is to remove the ashtray rail. It is held on by 3 screws, when removed it is easy to get to the bulb. Also the red wire with black striping is the positive wire, i spliced into that one:)

You could actually put some cup holders on Velcro between the seat and the e-brake.
