what a long day, but she only over heated once on the trip back, and in front of a cop too, along with the car being illegal (no wof & rego) and the driver losing her licence, lucky the cop didnt pull over to help us though :)

Hey do you know why it overheats?

Mine gets hot when idling at the lights cause the fans don't turn on. I disconnected the plug from the thermosensor in the bottom of the radiator and shorted the pins and the fans came on ok. New thermosensor arrives on Tuesday :D

When I choose LO or . on the climate controls I get no fan at all. Only HI seems to work. I can hear the click of a relay when I select HI and the fans come on. With LO or . I hear no relay click and get no fans.

Does yours work on LO? Is "." just fan off or a medium speed?

Do you hear a clicking sound when going from nothing to nothing to lo or low to medium?

If you can't get that working in your Vigor, and mine isn't a relay problem, then I'll be wanting to buy your climate controls :eek:

whole light=which light? Both or only the right light? Its normal when you turn on the high beam, the low beam goes off. I bet your high beam is out. so that explains why the whole light cuts off

That vent piece in your centre console, it has a small fan under it. God knows what the purpose is, but it goes whenever the climate air system is going.

The miniature fan is usually used to create airflow over the cabin air temperature sensor. It should be on all the time if the system is set to maintain a temperature. My 535i has a similar fan setup in the center console, but mine doesn't make any noise at all. HTH

What are you planning on using from it?

I would like to buy these things if you aren't using them:
- climate air controls
- rear speaker pods
- foglight switch and as much of the wiring as you can be bothered removing, the connector + a few cm of wiring would be ok.

Also I now need the little black dome, about 1.5cm wide, that sits on top of the instrument cluster as I lost mine down a vent somewhere :(

Seems to be a light sensor under it, dunno why it's there as I can't see any auto headlight switch?

Please remember to check to hear for a relay click as you change the heater fan speed :D Especially between off and lo, lo and medium cheers

Just had it checked out. The one in the console is a temperature sensor, the one on top of the instrument cluster is a sun light sensor. Both are for the climate air controls, when you have it on Automatic

Oh and about your non working fan, does the climate control system have a fan resistor in the blower casing? On the regular vent systems those go bad once in a while and will cause the blower not to work at some of the settings.

Cool, I'll add that to the list of things to check out when I get around to fixing that. I can't hear any relays click on the lower fan speeds so once I figure out which relays are responsible I'll test those too. That's why OD has to get his working, would save me lots of hunting around :P Hurry up OD!
