I would like to convert my car to manual. One way is to simply buy a doner car. My car is a 1986 (gold top B20A), do I have to find another 85-86 or can I use the gearbox and other parts from a 87-89 black top B20A?

What about the B18A manual box, is that the same?

Does anyone know the oil capacity of the B20A's automatic gearbox? Might give mine a change.

After a bit of searching it seems the B20A and B18A gearboxes are interchangable, but are they the same?

The gear ratios are most likely different but that shouldnt stop you from using one of those if you cant find anything else. The B18A trannys are pretty much unknown territory. I think their serials are B2N5

Goldtop and Blacktop should share the same tranny bolt pattern. It should work.

I'm sure the gearing won't be that different too. It may just be something with the casing or internal construction.

The B18A tranny will bolt to the B20A too.

I posted the B18A gear ratios somwhere.

cool get a 88-89 parts car...so you can sell off the parts here while you get a 5 speed swap.
