Looking good Jerry! Looks like the shaved the side mouldings like the ones my hatch. I think it looks the best that way. I like the Z3 fenders too. They are way lighter than stock. You painting it yourself too?

I cut small strips of 16 guage sheet metal and tack welded one side then trimmed the other to fit in the hole then welded them shut. I then ground down the welds smooth. put several thin coat's of bondo sanded them to a smooth finish. sprayed them with 2 coats of filler primer sanded back down then put a darker coat then sanded to reveal low spots.

I took off my z3 fenders when i took off my bodykit, im trying to decide wether or not i want to put them on or not. Im not sure what it will look like when i get it painted black. If anyone is good at photoshopping make his car black so i can see what it will look like. I know what you mean when you say they were a PITA to put on. When are you planning on painting it or having it painted?

oh ok....naw its just that fiberglass is waterproof. and bondo is not. but if you got a good seal all the way around its good...cuz that means you wont leak...and if it leaks bondo is like a sponge and it will soak up the water and it will expand till your paint cracks...it happen to me so thats why i know

Work is looking good so far!

However, I think you want to get that primer painted quickly, as it's porous and I've heard that there are many types of primer that will absorb moisture, and this may really ruin your paint job.

On a side note If you're doing your work right, I don't think that Bondo should ever come in contact with water. It's designed to take shallow low spots out of metal, AFIAK. It's supposed to be backed to metal only, and should be primed over and painted.

But I am not an auto body guy...

Looks good. If you have to fill anything more than 1/8th inch thick, try using a product called Dyna Glass. It's a filler with fiberglass chop in it. You mix the activator in it just like you do body filler, and then spread it into place. It does not flow like body filler though, so you will have to fill a bit high, and grind it down close, then use blending filler to finish the job. Using the Dyna Glass on thicker fills ensures you do not have any filler crack and that water will not cause any problems if it finds its way to the backside of the filler through trim holes and around a pinhole in your weld. Too late for the doors, though sounds like they are pretty well sealed up so most likely you'd be fine for as long as you'd own the car really. Once the next sucker gets it who cares LOL. Anyway check out my bodywork thread in my sig there's pics of the products I've used and some other stuff.

Looks like you're off to a good start though, keep it up, car is looking great!

My accord had a wing like yours did when I got it, but I made the guy keep it when i bought it, it was so ugly.
But bad thing, He filled up the holes, but you can see where they were, and it looks like crap.

Your paint job looks great. Mind telling what paint/gun/materials you used? Maybe a quick explanation of the process. :)
i had bought a paint gun at checker autoparts a couple of years ago, i checked their web site and they still sell them.
http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductDetail.aspx?MfrCode=APO&MfrPartNumber=AR6050&CategoryCode=3478

i hit the home depot for painters tape & paper and i bought 2 quarts of rustolium flat black and paint thinner(100% mineral spirits).

i painted one of the old fenders with a 2:1 mixture.
the paint layed down suprisingly well. i did find after 4 day's the paint was still soft. it's been two weeks and the paint seems solid now.

the lable said that you can use either mineral spirits or asitone to thin the paint. i bought a quart asitone mixed it at 2:1 with the paint sprayed another test fender. as a result the paint layed down as nice as the mineral spirits, but it cured faster. so that was what route i took to the car.

1 quart of asitone $9
2 quarts rustolium flat black $17
2 rolls 2" painters tape $11
2 rolls of making papper $10
$47

mix paint and asitone @ 2:1 mixture
IE: 16oz paint + 8oz asitone =24oz sprayable paint

for that price i couldn't ask for anything better.
i did price the jet black with the matted clear coat with all the other stuff need to mix it :jaw: $495.00
